A CHINESE billionaire claimed that Beijing has planted up to 25,000 spies across the US who are “ready to destroy” the country.

The tycoon said: “Before 2012, cumulatively China had around 10,000 to 20,000 agents working in the United States.
“These agents had been sent to work in the US over a 50 year period of time, and they were working in a defensive mode.”
The property magnet warned that prior to 2012 the spies were charged with gathering information but since then they have been switched to “offensive” spying.
Mr Guo said: “By offensive (operations), I mean to be ready to destroy the US in ways they can.”
China’s budget for intelligence gathering before 2012 was around £465million annually but espionage funding jumped to somewhere between two to three billion pounds.....

If you have 20k+ operatives in a foreign country (especially a country with freedom-of-movement like the US), and you could activate them, either all at once, or in echelons, what would you have them do?
Supposedly, the Soviets had plans like this in place for the US, during the Cold War. The Americans (a fictional TV series based on real-life events) had an episode on this very scenario, a while back.
It wouldn't surprise me if other countries had similar sleeper agents here in the US. Probably the Russians still do.
