Trump Jr. posts full text of email with Russian lawyer
Donald Trump Jr. Twitter feed ^ | July 11, 2017 | Donald Trump, Jr.

Posted on 07/11/2017 8:48:08 AM PDT by Defiant

It's a two part tweet. The media will focus on the part that says that the Russian government has information to provide to the Trump campaign, and that they support Trump. That part reads like an operation to entrap Trump, Jr. Trump just wanted to talk on the phone, eventually agreed to a meeting.

How does meeting to obtain negative information about your political opponent from any and all sources (done in all elections!) constitute collusion to steal an election?

Also, Clinton trying to get oppo research on Trump from a former MI-6 agent is not "British meddling" in the election, but Trump trying to get oppo research from a Russian lawyer IS "Russian meddling?"

-- How? If the Russians had damaging information on Hillary and want to give it to Trump, how is that at odds with wanting to help Trump? --

You are not getting my point.

The "substance of the offer" = Hillary is in cahoots with the Russians. In other words, the Russians are helping Hillary, or benefiting from something Hillary did. For example, the Russians are funding the Clinton campaign, or are undermining Bernie, or whatever.

The accusation that is at the heart of the "substance of the offer" to provide information (we don't know what it is or if it even exists, none was ever produced, maybe it's the half million dollar speaking fee or a donation to Clinton Foundation, or allowing the Podestas to participate in a profitable Russian venture) cuts against Hillary.

Of course, making the "substance of the offer" public helps Trump.

The narrative takes on a totally different flavor if the substance of the offer would have been to fund the Trump campaign, or propagandize for Trump. If that was the case, "collusion" is a fair accusation.

My point is that the "trick" you cite, and I agree it will be used, is to isolate the sentence or clause that says "we want to assist your campaign by providing this assistance."

Imagine if there is a parallel offer to Camp Hillary - to produce evidence that Team Trump is buying the services of the GRU to run bots in favor of the Trump campaign. Is Hillary colluding with the Russians if she asks to see the evidence?

Change the nature of the evidence or offer to Camp Hillary, and the entire flavor of the offer can change.

In both cases, the outcome is "to help Hillary."

RE:”LMAO. If anything this only debunks their Russia narrative. If there was collusion with Russia, why meet with this woman?”

The claim will be that this was their first meeting with the Russians to collude against Clinton, the first one that kicked it all off.

How did this get leaked anyway?

I was responding to the suggestion that Trump say he wasn’t interested in the oppo research, by pointing out that his emails explicitly say he was in fact interested.

As far as any illegality, that remains to be seen, but this clearly shows that Jr. has been lying for the past year about not having any campaign contact with representatives of the Russian government. That Jared attended the meeting, which we finally now know was explicitly about trying to get dirt on Hillary from the Russian government, does not bode well for him and his continued White House employment (no one but Mueller gives much of a crap about Manafort any more).

The "substance of the offer" = Hillary is in cahoots with the Russians.

"Cahoots" is your word. Goldstone said the Russian government had information and documents that would "incriminate" Hillary and her dealings with Russia. What does that mean? It could cover a wide range of subjects including her emails that she destroyed. And it may not have to do just with Russia.

The narrative takes on a totally different flavor if the substance of the offer would have been to fund the Trump campaign, or propagandize for Trump. If that was the case, "collusion" is a fair accusation.

This is all based on Goldstone's characterization of events. He will have to testify about those statements and what they were based on. It just opens up another Pandora's box for Mueller to investigate.

My point is that the "trick" you cite, and I agree it will be used, is to isolate the sentence or clause that says "we want to assist your campaign by providing this assistance."

Of that you can be sure. This is the smoking gun and it came from Donald Trump Jr. I am confident that the CIA had a copy of the email chain and forwarded it to Comey. This appears to me to be the document that was used to get the FISA warrant in July, not the dossier. I wonder how long the Intel Community was in surveillance of the Trump campaign. It had to be before the FISA warrant. Lots of intrigue here.

That’s a good thing. The Russia conspiracy road leads to nowhere.

The Dems want this to continue until the 2018 midterms. And with the help of the MSM, it will dominate the news and Trump's agenda.

Cause the Russia thing was so wildly helpful to them in all the special elections (that they lost, bigly).

Until now, collusion has been a baseball term concerning labor relations. To apply in this case, Trump and Russia would need to be team owners who conspired to put a cap on Clinton’s contract demands.

IMPORTANT POINTS

<><> Trump had already clinched the nom at the time this Russian contact surfaced.

<><> the Russian contact is an official lobbyist against Russian children
being adopted by Americans. She craftily used the election angle to get a meeting.

-- I am confident that the CIA had a copy of the email chain and forwarded it to Comey. --

I'm not saying the CIA didn't get this in the first place, but the email chain appears to be entirely domestic. June 7, Goldstone says the Russian lawyer is flying over from Moscow.

-- "Cahoots" is your word. Goldstone said the Russian government had information and documents that would "incriminate" Hillary and her dealings with Russia. What does that mean? --

Beats me, but the subject line is "Russia-Clinton" not "Russia help for Trump campaign." Again, it goes without saying that what is offered is meant to be (has to be) helpful to the Trump campaign, otherwise there is no interest. My general point is that if the test for "collusion" is "helpful," then the test is flawed. I fully expect the press to use a flawed test, flawed logic, flawed legal analysis, and every manner of "fake news" that it has been practicing for all of my life.

-- It just opens up another Pandora's box for Mueller to investigate. --

Yes, and that's probably the least of it.

Good point.

And then you have McCain trying to destroy Trump with Russian material, the “golden bed” theory.

Of course that wasn’t trying to tamper with an election...

Trump won! Get over it Lefties...
