April 25 — A 4-month-old is struck in the hand by a bullet fired through the wall of an apartment near the Las Vegas Strip.
June 2 — A 2-year-old is injured at an apartment complex near UNLV after an argument between two men leads to gunfire.
In Las Vegas and across the U.S., children are paying in blood for the nation’s refusal to control firearms and reduce gun violence.

As you noted, the article is complete garbage.The author blames the NRA, not the shooters, for the violence.
But the headline is correct. Residents - and by that I mean neighborhood folks - can help stop gun violence by helping the police more.
“See something, say something.” But unfortunately, most folks go with “snitches get stitches” instead.

To the editorial board of the Las Vegas Sun: Could you provide us with a little more information? While you list a few examples of tragic victims, how about providing us with the background of the shooters? Are any of them multiple convicted felons? Did any of the shooters receive time off for good behavior, rather than serving their entire sentences? How many of the shooters were in possession of the guns illegally versus legally? Did the shooters violate existing gun laws by their actions?
If you want to do something about gun violence, do something about the people who cause the gun violence. Maybe consider a three strikes your out type of legislation or maybe applying minimum sentences. Or even more novel, how about enforcing all of the existing gun laws before creating new ones.
As a side note, you really shouldn’t label those who support the second or and of the amendments to the Constitution as “extremists” - it just spot lights your ignorance and bias.
Besides the gunshot wounds, is there anything else these stories have in common?

If you want to reduce gun violence then more people need to have guns.
People who use guns illegally don’t want to get shot, so they will leave lawful gun owners alone.
BS. It took me 20 minutes to buy my Remington 870 Tactical shotgun a few weeks ago. Were I not NICS-exempt, it would have been even longer. If we didn't have to deal with background checks, I could have done it in five minutes.
