I think the whole purpose of the meeting was to get the emails on record. All they wanted was a paper trail with the words about Putin wanting Trump to win and Don. Jr. being interested in dirt on Hillary. They have it in writing now. The only thing they wanted out of the actual meeting was for Don Jr. to press them for the dirt they indicated they had - the Russian adoption thing was just the cover.
