I really would like to know how CNN got the Reddit user’s info, and if any laws were broken in acquiring and/or disseminating the info.

There may be an invasion of privacy and perhaps extortion. How did they get his name if not by hacking or through his internet provider? Their threat to expose his name implies the possibility of harm to him from crazed leftists.

I really would like to know how CNN got the Reddit users info, and if any laws were broken in acquiring and/or disseminating the info.My guess is that someone who works for Reddit passed them the information contained in the kid's profile.
I'm not the only one who believes this.

I really would like to know how CNN got the Reddit users info, and if any laws were broken in acquiring and/or disseminating the info. Several posters on Reddit think the admins on Reddit provided CNN the guys email address from his profile. This not to say what CNN did with it didn't break any laws.
