San Francisco taxpayers could soon pay $190,000 in a lawsuit settlement with an undocumented immigrant who claimed he was reported to federal immigration authorities in violation of the city’s sanctuary city ordinance, the City Attorney’s office confirms to KPIX5.
The settlement is expected to be confirmed by San Francisco supervisors in future hearings.
Pedro Figueroa-Zarceno walked into the police station on December 2, 2015 to recover his stolen car.
When he left the station, he was immediately taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
A document from federal immigration authorities released by his attorneys indicates that a San Francisco police officer directly contacted ICE and told them where to find Figueroa-Zarceno, the man’s attorneys and representatives said Wednesday.
The apparent incident, which led to the two-month detention of Figueroa-Zarceno, could be a violation of Sanctuary City policies placing limits on local law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with immigration officials, according to his attorneys.

Enforcing an action concerning an illegal behavior is in itself a crime. This could be a great legal basis for defunding California.
At least he can afford a plane ticket home now.
Ignoring the San Francisco stupidity, there is a solution for otherwise decent people who stay there and work for their police department: Report illegals anonymously.
“Hi, ICE? I don’t want to give my name, but I’m at the police station and there is an illegal here named Barack Hussein. The police decided not to charge him for the weed and a little blow he was caught with, so they are releasing him in about 20 minutes.”

About ten years ago I got selected for jury duty, put in the 1st chair. No excuse got me off. It was about an illegal suing because he got injured while trespassing and robbing a business. After we're all selected and seated, judge asks me one more time if I can be fair to the plaintiff. I said "Yes, just as long as this illegal alien was not doing anything illegal!". Courtroom busted up in laughter, and the judge dismissed me as a juror. So yes, apparently non-citizens do sue. It's crazy.
