Its common knowledge that roughly half of marriages today end in divorce. This is up significantly from the 1960s, when about 30 percent of marriages ended in divorce within 15 years.
The underlying social and economic changes that have spurred this increase remain a bit of a mystery. But the topic was taken up in a massive 2016 study conducted by Harvard sociology professor Alexandra Killewald.

Absolutely right. I was let go from a 6 figure job. We moved to somewhere with a much lower cost of living and took a job for less than half of what I had been making. Within two years I was offered a partnership. I turned it down to start my own company because I was tired of working for other people. While I still don't make as much as I used to, I live in a house that is more than twice as large. There are much better public schools here. My wife works with me at our company, so she is emotionally and financially vested in it's success as well.
He refused to go to trial but he only made enough to keep the office open.
He’s a stockbroker now.
And the simple fact that people tell the biggest lies so easily and freely, thinking nothing of it. You swear an oath before God Almighty and a 100 guests that you will remain married till death do you part and yet, divorce is just around the corner for half of the marriages and most are in fact, initiated by women. The magnitude of such lies has become acceptable.
How long have you been married?
So, the big lie is ok?

An opening statement that is always followed by another lie.
Calling her a gold digger is as easy as claiming he didn't participate emotionally in the marriage.
Both are easier than facing ones own selfish immaturity.
They always look at the wrong end. The real question is why do couples that obviously don’t work get married. And why do people that obviously can’t handle long term commitment sign on for it over and over. That’s why divorces happen, because the marriage never should have.
I see the ladies getting their digs in too.
All sides turn bitter after divorce.
“So, the big lie is ok?”
God will sort it out in the end.
Sooo...not a go-get er.
25 blessed years. The best thing I’ve ever done in my misspent youth and middle years!
It’s about time the ladies got their digs in. This forum has way too many of these threads in which women are demonized by bitter, lonely guys.
I’m angry? Hah! The woman-haters are all over FR these days - your post alone is emblematic of the problem here.
Maybe some of you guys suck in bed. Every think of that angle?
“How could someone make it through law school without the skills to earn a living?”
He probably has the skills. Maybe he’s just lazy. Ya gotta wanna.
Apparently you can’t live on house closings and documents. The real money is in trial work.
She’s been married 4 times and I can’t believe the current guy married her because he dated her for years in HS/college. She’s impossible to satisfy.
Hence the subject of this tread.
“Maybe some of you guys suck in bed. Every think of that angle?”
That’s $50 extra, sweetie.
“Feminism destroyed the family.”
Yup. It’s not the wife’s job to provide for the family. When the feminist movement jumbled up the proper roles of a household, everybody suffered - and it’s still happening.
“Maybe some of you guys suck in bed.”
Or their wives didn’t?
