Russia has recalled its ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak, according to a report.
The decision to send Kislyak back to Russia comes amidst multiple investigations into the ambassador's ties to President Trump's top aides during the 2016 presidential campaign, BuzzFeed reported.
Trump's top aide and son-in-law Jared Kushner, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former national security adviser Mike Flynn all had meetings with Kislyak that have since come under scrutiny as the FBI and multiple congressional committees continue to investigate the Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
More specifically, the meeting between Kislyak, Kushner and Flynn in December has been examined after The Washington Post reported that after the meeting, the US intercepted communication of Kislyak mentioning that Kushner asked him to open a secret channel to the Kremlin to avoid US monitoring.
According to the Post, Kislyak was "taken aback by the suggestion of allowing an American to use Russian communications gear at its embassy or consulate."
Russia will be sending their deputy foreign minister, Anatoly Antonov, to take Kislyak's place, according to The Moscow Times.
The chelovek became a lightning rod. Enjoy Vladevostok
Might as well go home. The fake news crowd has made him radioactive for any Republican or administration official to talk to.
It’s all so silly. My church sends missionaries to Russia; I have donated support funds. My place of employment has Russian families all over the place. It’s just ridiculous.
No, no, no. I liked Sergey.
Putin made it very clear what Ambassadors work is....they meet and visit with leaders and such. What else are they suppose to be doing if not meeting with leaders?
Kushner and Flynn met with him in Dec. the election was in Nov. But facts don’t make much difference to Democrats.
We know this one thing with absolute certainty. Liars lie.
This whole business is stupid. The Democrats are screwing up our foreign relations just to try to hurt Trump and scarf up more pork.
I don't think Putin's taking any chances now....here's Anatony Antonov....
Well, they could meet with Losers, like H-> and The Burn-commie.
Not the typical Putin crony retirement plan.
....”We know this one thing with absolute certainty. Liars lie.”....
...As has been said...”The art of war is deception”...
I hope it is soon behind us. I am looking forward to President and Mrs. Trump hosting the Putins at Mar-a-lago.
The insanity of this comment is made clear when compared with the drumbeat charge since November that Trump was operating in collusion wit the Kremlin via just such a backdoor. The traitors' lies circled around them and slapped them into silly land.
If one were to count visits, would it be safe to say Hilary’s people, and Obama’s people met with the Ambassador and other Russians of consequence many more times than did Trump’s? I understand he was a frequent visitor to the WH!
Looks as if Putin has realized that Kislyak was smart enough to handle Obama ans Clinton, but not smart enough to deal with President Trump.
Not goodski.
Demorats were playing the “It’s Russia” violin for months throughout the campaigns......to the tune of “ Keep the Russian distraction on the front burner while we do our dirt work behind the scenes”..... and it’s still happening.
The idea was to keep the light off Hillary and the DNC escapades....both when she was in office and throughout the campaign. All they had to do was “buy time” and stall to get her through to the end.
It worked so well there was no reason not to hit Trump and his administration with it as well....and the media was more than happy to ‘beat that drum” daily.....until they had positioned a “special prosecutor” as their eyes and ears on this administration...and here we are.
A deputy foreign minister is a pretty heavy-weight ambassador.
