In the early days of December 1805, a handful of prominent politicians received formal invitations to join President Thomas Jefferson for a White House dinner.
Whatever Jefferson could have foreseen for the young countrys future, it appears the modern-day White House tradition of marking Ramadan with an iftar dinner or Eid celebration has come to an end.
Ramadan, which falls on the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, started on May 27 this year and ends at sundown Saturday. Muslims around the world will mark the end of the holy month by celebrating the holiday Eid al-Fitr, the feast of breaking of the fast.
For the first time in nearly two decades, Ramadan has come and gone without the White House recognizing it with an iftar or Eid celebration, as had taken place each year under the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations. In recent weeks, several former White House staff members told The Post they would usually begin planning an iftar months in advance and didnt anticipate the Trump White House could pull something off before the end of Ramadan.
White House officials did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
In late May, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly said the State Department would break with recent tradition and not host a Ramadan reception, as it had done nearly annually for two decades. On Saturday, Tillerson released a brief statement sending best wishes to all Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
This holiday marks the culmination of Ramadan, a month in which many experience meaning and inspiration in acts of fasting, prayer, and charity, Tillerson said in the statement. This day offers an opportunity to reflect on our shared commitment to building peaceful and prosperous communities. Eid Mubarak.

I know it is off ‘track’ but one of my long standing ‘gripes’ has been the pardoning of the Thanksgiving Turkey.
If he still intends to ‘invite’ the designated gobbler for a ‘ceremony’ at least change the venue to
“Invite Tom to be the centerpiece of the WH Thanksgiving Meal”.
Or ‘donate’ all the potential ‘liberated’ turkeys to the ‘So Others May Eat’ facility (SOME)...
This is great! this is the right thing to do. Honoring a 30 day period of rape, burning and murder is wrong. Good!
That is EXACTLY what through my mind every time I’m in a long TSA line at the airport. The economic drain these savages have burdened us with is HUGE. Eff all of them and their barbaric faux religion. It’s too bad Jefferson didn’t make even greater strides in the Barbary Coast War.
Finally there are consequences for incinerating innocent citizens, putting Christian children in dough kneading machines, burning people alive, etc. etc...and blowing up people to “celebrate Ramadan”.
Our marking Ramadan has not appeased Moslem terrorists so why should we continue to do so?
Oh what Bullsh#t.
The “ long tradition” goes all the way back to W Bush.
More winning!!!!!!! The very idea that our president should “celebrate” our enemy’s BS was disgusting. That our president should also invite our enemies into the White House as “honored guests” was revolting. Despite the horrid mistake meeting with mass-murdering terrorist Abbas, it now appears that President Trump has learned not to be duped by the islamonazi- infested Snake Dept. hoping DJT will remember his promises to Drain The Swamp, soon. That instinct was 1000 percent correct, right on!! He just needs to do it. Now.
Another winning
The initial response of the White House to the onset of Ramadan should be to raise the terrorism threat level.
” we’ll put a boot up your ass , it’s the American Way “
WINNING!!!
They that was good! :)
Two scoops of bacon for The President!
An 8 year tradition? started by the homo and wookie?
YEAH!!! Thank GOD for TRUMP!!!
About time. Muslim’s are evil and a plague to the world.
I doubt the White House celebrates Walpurgis Night or any other pagan holiday either.
