Progressives furious after California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon shelves bill, citing cost concerns
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders lashed out Saturday at California Democrats for shelving an ambitious single-payer bill, urging them to vote on the health-care legislation estimated to cost $400 billion per year.
California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon announced Friday that Senate Bill 562 had been pulled indefinitely because it does not address many serious issues, including financing, deliver of care, [and] cost controls.
Mr. Rendon left open the possibility that the measure could be reconsidered, noting that this is the first year of the two-year legislative session, but Mr. Sanders called on him to allow a floor vote.
I am extremely disappointed that the speaker of the California Assembly is refusing to allow S.B. 562, the single payer health care bill passed by the state Senate, to come to the Assembly floor for a vote, Mr. Sanders said on Twitter.

For Commies like Sanders, single payer health care means THEY make the decisions on who lives and who dies..the ones who live are of course the ones who vote Democrat, the rest of us can croak
Yep...Bernt Orange
LOL...Problem solved. :-)
Just in case enormously natural resources rich CA isn’t already bankrupt becaues of political stupidity, Bernie wants them to push single payer.
Multiply that by 320 million. You get about $3.5 trillion. Per year, I presume.
That roughly doubles the federal budget.
I feel like a pedestrian in Manhattan, surrounded by emergency vehicles and bright lights, with California standing on a highrise ledge, illuminated by a spotlight, threatening to jump.
Yep, Bernie would love to emulate Chavez, Maduro or hundreds of other socialist losers as long as he gets his.
What is Jerry Brown thinking? Or smoking?
All he had to do is request a simple 250% (or so) increase in the various taxes that California collects and he could have created the perfect Bernie Sanders Memorial Single Payer Test Laboratory.
Bernie would be thrilled.
Me a few million other Californians would finally declare “no mas” and move out of Califonia.
“Incredible! The Commiecrats pulled the vote because THEY HAD NO MEANS WITH WHICH TO PAY FOR IT. Sanders is out of his skull.”
The Lib thinking is that Cali is too big to fail. Thereby the U.S. government would have to come to the rescue....
Ha! I have no clue what Moonbeam’s thinking but suspect he’s smoked just about everything.
We left CA after his first 8 years as guv and haven’t regretted it.
He didn't even represent his delegates at the DNC. He took off for calmer waters.
The dems have only themselves to blame. They made it impossible for anyone but hillary to gain traction for the nomination. As a result, an outlier, Sanders, gained attention and traction. In some ways, Sanders rise was a result of a bored press corp. JMHO
Oh yes!
The fix was in>
There were 17 or so serious republicans at the start of the primary campaign.
But only Hillary and a couple of No-Names in the democrat campaign.
Serious democrats were warned off because it was Hillary's turn!
But Hillary let a couple of other candidates in the primaries so she could get free TV time running phony debates.
And even then, Hillary was such a bad candidate that Bernie almost stole the show!
No, the rise of Bernie happened because not all dems are stupid and were revolted by the criminal actions of hrc
Bernie wants to spend other people’s money. This time it’s Californians grand children’s and great grand children’s money.
Here is the overlooked problem. Why is the Junior Senator from Vermont insinuating himself into California legislation?
CA pulled their billed because the stupid-@ss Congressional Republicans are going to pass their own junior version of Obamacare, which is going to usher in single-payer for the entire country if the Dems retake Congress. Now CA will have single-payer without worrying about the costs, which will be shared by their state brethren.
Ha - ol’ Bernie would never be bothered by a little thing like the fact that they couldn’t figure out how to pay for their wet dream universal government pay healthcare coverage.....
