EDEN, N.C. White privilege training in the Rockingham County school system is causing a lot of headaches.
Superintendent Rodney Shotwell told Rockingham Now the state threatened to withhold federal funding when a disproportionate number of minority students were suspended in a special exceptional childrens program in 2012 and 2013, so district leaders implemented mandatory equity training for school staff.
Now, some teachers are complaining that the training materials focused on white privilege and transgender issues violate their principles, while parents are speaking out about other teachers who are taking what they learned and imposing it on students.
At a May 8 school board meeting, parent Farran Wilkinson took to the podium to out one educator who recently forced white students to apologize to black students for their white privilege, according to the American Lens.

I blame my church.
Makes me wish I went to law school. They’re going to clean up.
Public shaming of white students.
They need to fire every teacher participating, fine them a half year’s wages and distribute the money between the shamed students.
My apology: I am so sorry that you people are such f**king stupid, illiterate, feral jackasses.
Kids should be instructed how to mark off a spot on their butts and give these school administrators the privilege to kiss it.
You're a white kid. Get up in front of class and apologize for your skin color. Now!
Don’t forget the district administration.
This crap doesn’t get done in school without a permissive administration.
End all federal taxes to and involvement in education, period.
And NEA delenda est.
If these kids really have “white privilege,” then why can’t they opt out of racial indoctrination??
What about the students that are Hispanic or Asian? I’m guessing they’d be embarrassed to be in a school system this stupid.
Do they make the Mulatto students yell apologies to themselves in a mirror or just give a half-sincere apology?
This is evil. Incidentally, it seems to me I’ve seen a disproportionate number of these hard-left initiatives being tried in places that would seem unlikely - why was this not tried in New York or California, instead of North Carolina? Is this more of the hard left in-your-face style?
There is only one thing these Leftists understand; lawsuits. Giant, huge, financial meltdown lawsuits suing their asses off.
Wow. I lived in Eden years ago. Not what I would have expected.
I really feel for those kids.
They can kiss my white privilege.
It’s more than a permissive administration. Curricula happen from the top down. There was almost certainly a directive from above for this to be part of the classroom curriculum, that is to “play act” something like this to make blacks hate whites and give whites the Leftist imposed guilt complex. That is what is going on at every level of government and education. This has the added “benefit” of being what they call “experiential learning,” and therefore deemed ever so creative. Parents who still have the ability to think for themselves - and sad to know - these are few and far between - should take their kids out of such schools and leave them to stew in their own hate-mongering juices.
..a teacher caused some of her students to stand up and apologize to other students based on their unequal opportunities of education...
If there are unequal educational opportunities in middle school, blame the middle school, not the students.
But that's just me.
Awful lot of weirdness there it seems.
Note to parents: run, do not walk to get your kids out of these lunatic asylums and home school them.
This rubbish makes my blood boil.
This white privelage condemnation MUST stop and stop now. The pendelum has swung wayyyy too far and it has begun swinging back but this is totally unacceptable.
