Sgt. Miller is serving life in prison with the opportunity for parole in 2020. Sgt. Miller shot and killed an Afghan civilian following the civilian attempting to grab Sgt. Millers weapon during a period of intense questioning. The Afghan civilian was a suspected insurgent that was walking through Sgt. Millers platoon defensive perimeter observing their defensive positions.
Following the shooting, Sgt. Millers unit was implicated in a complex attack and Afghan National Army fighters that were assigned to stay with the platoon disappeared prior to the onset of the firefight. They hid behind a building.
Sgt. Miller was embroiled in a firefight the night he killed the Afghan man. The Afghan man was an insurgent and yet no one in the military wants to say this and directly confront the duplicitous Afghanis. The firefight was not instigated by American soldiers; the firefight was meant to kill American soldiers, and Afghan National Army fighters were nowhere to be found.

Today was a HUGE triumph for our Veterans, thanks to VA Secretary Shulkin and President Trump. The link below highlights the signing of the VA Accountability Act. Invited to speak was Hero and Wounded Warrior, Sgt Michael Verardo, deployed in 2009 with the 82nd Airborne. This gutsy American Hero was severely wounded, losing 2 limbs after stepping on an IED. He had, this among other things, to say:
“I waited over 3/12 years for required adaptive changes to be made so I could safely reside in my own home.”
As Sec Shulkin points out, Michael was one of the lucky ones, he made it home. 37 of his Brothers did not make it home:

This is a true triumph for our Veterans!!! Finally, the VA can clean house and get rid of employees that think it's okay to sit and watch porn at the computer while an American Hero & Warrior sits in front of them in need of help and care! Those days are over and I'm certain there won't be anymore bonuses going out to VA Supervisors who think it's okay for employees to watch porn at their computers, or hide waiting list which showed the cruel and devastating wait times our Veterans endured under the last administration! Shameful treatment of our Heroes! The days of slackers being promoted and protected at the VA are over. Praise the Lord!
Secretary Shulkin referred to President Trump as “the biggest Champion our Veterans could hope for.” I concur. This was a bi-partisan effort, as it should be, and we are grateful to all who supported this monumental VA Accountability Act.
As much as I have fought for the passage of this bill for our Veterans, I have fought as hard for our Veterans sitting in Leavenworth.
We desperately need that same bipartisan support regarding our Sons still sitting in Leavenworth, they have been left behind and it is time for our country to review their cases, just as the past administration reviewed the cases of the terrorists released from Gitmo!
I am so grateful to Congressman Babin for his recent letter to President Trump asking him to review the cases of our Sons in Leavenworth, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Trump needs bi-partisan support in this effort too. Over the last 8 years, we watched President Obama empty out Gitmo and send home the most dangerous terrorists. He released over 100 terrorists from GITMO!! Heck, he even provided them top notch attorneys who worked on their releases day and night. We watched Obama trade 5 of the most notorious murdering terrorists for a traitor, Bergdahl, who left his Brothers behind on the battlefield. That unbelievable maneuver resulted in Obama holding a Rose Garden ceremony to proudly announce one of his most derelict actions! And if that wasn't enough, we watched Obama, on his way out the door, pardon another traitor, Bradley Manning. He did all that and left the White House without one word or nod to the mothers of Sgt. Derrick Miller and lst Lt Clint Lorance, both begging him to please release their Sons and let them go home too. He left these mothers grieving, and the mother's of the terrorists smiling and winking.
As I have indicated to Sgt. Miller's mother, Renee Myers, Congressman Babin’s request needs bipartisan support and it is my hope that at the very least, the representatives from Sgt Miller's home state of Maryland will finally come forward and form a Maryland Delegation in support of a review of Sgt. Miller's egregious life sentence. I include the CBC in this too. I hear many of them repeat the mantra “Black Lives Matter” and I ask them, shouldn't “Black Soldiers Lives Matter Too?” Where are they for this good black Soldier who deployed three times, risking his life in the foggiest of war and on a battlefield where their Commander-in-Chief afforded more rights and protections to the terrorists than he did to our own Sons?! I see them nowhere and I hear NOTHING from them for this good Maryland Son!
We are on our way, solidly, to Making America Great Again for our Veterans and it is my hope, with bipartisan support, our Veterans in Leavenworth will finally get a review of their sentences. It is time, and hopefully, top notch lawyers and much consideration will be afforded to our American Sons in Leavenworth, just as much as the past administration showered on the terrorists! President Trump needs bipartisan support for this to happen. If you live in Maryland, please pick up your phone and ring all the reps in Sgt. Miller's home state to get on board and support this effort! I have arranged many meetings up on the hill over the last 3 years for Sgt Miller's mother with these Maryland reps, to no avail. To this day, there is still NO Maryland Delegation in support of Renee Myers and her Son, Sgt. Derrick Miller. They need to be poked and shamed. Clint Lorance is from Texas, and he has a Texas Delegation behind his mother, supporting her. Renee Myers has none, she is from Maryland, please help if you can!
My very special thanks to Pete Hegseth and all the great Veterans and folks at Concerned Veterans for America. They walked all over the halls of Congress ensuring that their Brothers would finally be treated like the Heroes they are and the VA Accountability Act is a result of their hard work, among many others, who love and respect all the members of our military!
Finally, under this Commander-in-Chief, the nation stops to behold and protect these brave and precious American Warriors, as they have protected all of us! Together, under this Commander-in-Chief, we are going to Make America Great Again!
With A Mother's Heart,
Beverly Perlson

I totally agree with your comment above. I will never forget Obama’s words: “If the political winds blow in the wrong direction, I will stand with the Muslims.”
AND, I will never forget the fact that all we heard from the Obama Administration and the Democrats in Congress is, “We want to close GITMO!”
Yes, Obama was working hard to close GITMO and send the worst of the worst Islamic Terrorists home to their families and cared NOTHING about our heroes being freed from Leavenworth!
And for those who do not know, those Islamic Terrorists returned to the battlefield to kill more of our soldiers!
“Isn’t that big mouth Elijah Cummings from Maryland?”
Yes, friend. Your comment above is true. Maryland is full of like minded Obama Democrats who care nothing about our soldiers (no matter color of skin) and fought along with Obama to close GITMO since they cared so much about about freeing the terrorists from GITMO.
Yes, Bev has always and continues to do everything she can to help our heroes in Leavenworth and all Veterans for that matter. Like you and so many other Freepers we know, my sweetheart and I were delighted to join Bev's army of boots on the ground to bring attention to military issues and helping as many heroes as we can. Will never forget all the VA and MD freepers we met when we were able to join them in front of Walter Reed in support of our heroes. Will never forget the work of Freeper TroopRally and all who were there rain, snow, or summer heat to fight off the Code Pinko's!
I know for years that the Democrats have given their full support to the Code Pinko's in their hatred for our Military!
Thanks so much for you comment and story at post #39. Yes, it was a Military Court.
I certainly agree with you! It is easy to understand why Obama and his followers thought more of the terrorists than our US Military. See my reply post at #62.
Thanks for the ping.

Pinging the End Times ping list because I know I lot of served or have family that served .
Pray for Trump to pardon him . He is serving time for saving the lives of the men with him when they were attacked in Afghanistan. It’s a disgrace that he sits in prison.

[[I am not a military person and do not know all the ins & outs, but it sure sounds like this man is being unjustly held. Are military just supposed to let the enemy grab their guns????? Is so that is insane.]]
Obama’s rules of engagement were basically suicidal.
They were set to protect the enemy and yes it was insane.
[[Very surprised that the Congressional Black Caucus is not behind him.]]
He doesn’t fit their narrative of what a black American should be. They didn’t stand behind Allen West either when he did what he had to do to save his unit in Iraq .
Thank you, Lera!
OMG What can we do?
