'Full Measure': Quitting Congress
WJLA - ABC News ^ | 18 June 2017 | Sharyl Attkisson

Posted on 06/19/2017 1:43:28 AM PDT by blueplum

....After eight-and-a-half years on an upward trajectory in Washington, D.C., Chaffetz of Utah has suddenly and quite unexpectedly pulled himself out of the game.

Attkisson: "Some people might think this is a great time to be a Republican chairman of an important committee because Republicans control the House, they're the majority in the Senate, and they hold the president's office. That means, you would think, that federal agencies can't stonewall investigations of spending, waste, fraud and abuse."

Chaffetz: "The reality is, sadly, I don't see much difference between the Trump administration and the Obama administration. I thought there would be this, these floodgates would open up with all the documents we wanted from the Department of State, the Department of Justice, the Pentagon. In many ways, it's almost worse because we're getting nothing, and that's terribly frustrating and, with all due respect , the attorney general has not changed at all. I find him to be worse than what I saw with Loretta Lynch in terms of releasing documents and making things available. I just, that's my experience, and that's not what I expected."

The sudden departure of Chaffetz is odd. Something else is going on with him. He is either under personal pressure or investigation or is hiding something. I have never trusted him.

Agree! Trump has done plenty and will do more.

Chaffetz is 100% in it for himself. That is his primary consideration.

I don’t know but he did NOT say he needed to “spend more time with his family”. IOW, code for “zipper malfunction”.

Maybe they have left Koskinen in place because he is under investigation. A bigger question is why Koskinen decided to remain in place under a Trump administration. He is clearly a partisan hack. Agree it is a mystery.

I’m not interested in an argument but look at it as a CEO taking over an overbloated, dysfunctional mess of a company and keeping the slobs ,who made it that way, in place.

Google, can you help us understand why President Trump has not fired Mr. Koskinen yet ?

IRS chief is unexpected survivor in Trump era

So it turns out that they know each other from a business deal 40 years ago.

It's sort of like the friendship and loyalty that Enzo the baker and Bonasera the undertaker had with Vito Corleone.

Jason needs to change his little boy diapers and stop repeating MSM lies, which are intended to cover for his complete inadequacies as a man.

I will say that Chaffetz' problem is not Trump so much, but a Congress of Republicans who have been bullied into submission and will not do the people's work because they are afraid of the left/media.

You nailed it!!!

I agree with your woman’s intuition. It’s taking longer to get Trump’s people in place because they are being fought tooth and nail by the dimocrats. The republicans are just standing around with their arms folded looking at the floor or something.

There are hundreds of senate-confirmed positions that need to be filled, and the Democrats are insisting on using the 30 hours of hearings, that current rules allow them, on each. At this rate, they will never be done.

The Republican Senate needs to "nuke option" that rule, for non-cabinet-level appointees. For low-level appointees, the names should be announced, then two weeks later a vote will be held with no debate.

Interesting connection. It makes no sense not to get rid of this guy...

Kushner is in a position to have to do something about gorelick. He should have never hired her. The minute mueller was appointed he should have gotten rid of her. Why didnt he?? There is a conflict. He has to waive the conflict. ..or get new lawyer.
connections in DC make strange bedfellows.

This loafer has been in his office since 2009.

You are saying he he lost his patience in the five months that he’s been going after Trump for Trump’s “intimate dealings” with the Russians?

Get real.

Jason is the ultimate RINO and found that he wasn’t going to be able to feed at the trough like he intended.

It’s sick you can’t see this.

That isnt why he abruptly quit. Something else is going on

One rumor is this was a deal cut so as not to be investigated himself

Romney could have something to do with it
isnt mcmuffin going to try to get his seat?

no, he’s saying that. I’m pointing out he’s complaining about donothings, so his solution is to quit and become a donothing instead of sticking around.

Two topics here. I don’t really know nor care the Chaffetz motivation.

But WHY the Trump administration is so slow to act is mystifying to a vast number of non-FReepers who want the swamp drained.

Why was Trump so slow to nominate Price and Verma to run Healthcare when everyone knew last November that they would be the picks and could easily get confirmation?

Why are Price and Verma so slow to drain the HHS/CMS swamp? They could easily give a WAIVER to everyone for all regulations imposed by Obama’s technocrats. With waivers, then there is no reason for the police force as there is nothing to enforce. So eliminate the positions.

TRANSPARENCY, OpenTheBooks.com is another quick action that is needed. Almost all government data is now on relational databases. Agencies like HHS do not have the security concerns of FBI/CIA. ThinkTanks, Academicians and similar should have READ access to the Relational Databases. They should undergo tests to qualify with skill in SQL and the software packages already in place to do the queries.

Let both left and right expose what is really happening in these agencies.

The little that it costs could be charged to the ThinkTanks themselves, just as it is done now where Judicial Watch pays for FOIA costs. Transparency is a lot cheaper than FOIA for everyone.
