It's my understanding that “council housing” (which this tower was) is the equivalent of our “projects” in major cities.They say it was an appliance that blew up that started the fire.Could it have been a *stove* that blew up while someone was cooking meth?

IF one can put aside islamism as a cause this time, I understand it may have been propane, or some such, as coolant for a refrigerator that blew up, since the "greening" of the UK has discouraged, if not banned outright, the uses of freon and other chlorofluorocarbons to protect their so-called "environment" by the all knowing state.

If this is the case, I'm sure the fire's victims felt some comfort knowing they were "being taken care of".

I know the exterior cladding caught fire, but has the cause or the location of the initial fire been determined?

No matter how fast the exterior fire spread, there had to be a smoke-free fire stairwell on the opposite side of the building where most of the residents could have escaped.

Plus, don't London buildings (this one was just refurbished) require smoke alarms and sprinklers?

Until proved otherwise, this looks like ISIS terrorism, or deliberate arson by a disgruntled resident, to me.
