Even if the original debt-holder sold the debt, there would be no debt for the purchaser to collect if they weren’t collecting funds that the target owed to the original debt-holder. This looks like a big biz giveaway.
It’s up to Congress.
The Junk Debt business is so rife with fraud that Congress should do something about it.
Debt gets sold off pretty quickly. Then come the vultures who don’t have to follow the law and can make someone’s life a living hell.
Btw, there is a big business in buying bankruptcy debt, too.
