He sustained a very serious (anatomically) GSW likely to cause dozens of bleeding points, infection, and significant tissue loss.
He’s in very good hands, but in cases of this nature, sometimes the surgical team’s good work isn’t enough.
If he dies, I wonder if there will be retaliation in some form?
Some of the most diabolic medieval tortures involved damage to those organs. Yes, if this is lethally septic/etc we are going to need to redirect retaliation to non-violence.
I would rather see videotaped hazings, hear about pranks at Shake-the-Spear at the Park, etc., and record boycotts than hear about ‘wacko-right-wing shooters’.
This may be one of the cases, where the femoral artery is so damaged that the only way to save the pt is to tie off the artery, knowing the Pt will lose the leg as a result.
No good choices here.
