Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be testifying before congress today and his former democrat colleagues have promised to tear him limb from limb. Fired FBI Director James Comey previously testi-lied that it was his opinion Jeff Sessions was placed inside the U.S. Attorney Generals office to coordinate with Vladimir Putin. Gottabe a spy, ohmygosh.
AG Jeff Sessions’ response will take place at approximately 2:30pm EDT today. Tickets for the circus level fiasco are sold out and media are breathless with anticipation.

And no one on this thread, unless they are working under Sessions at the DoJ, know what or who the DoJ is currently investigating, or what the DoJ has found. Sessions clearly said that the FBI never is supposed to say ANYTHING about ANY ongoing investigation. Sort of big letters he said it.
Fire Mueller and indict Hillary or Lynch, if not better stop complaining about getting treated poorly by the press it will only get worse.

Did you ever bother watching the hearing that you are pretending you know anything about? You said earlier that you just watched a clip of Warner’s pathetic badgering of Sessions. Yet, you are defaming a very honorable man, who did a good, convincing job today in his testimony. He did not allow the hostile fools on the committee to trip him up at all. He responded intelligently and on several occasions forcefully and with conviction. It is obvious that you made up your mind about him long before he testified.
Jeff Sessions is the best attorney general we’ve had since Ed Meese under Reagan. He’s also arguably the most conservative member of Trump’s cabinet. He is as strong as a person could get on illegal immigration and law & order, two of Trump’s biggest campaign issues. Sessions followed the very clear-cut DOJ guidelines to recuse himself since he had been part of Trump’s campaign, but a small minority of very vocal people here are attacking him in ridiculous ways for doing what he, as the leading lawyer in the nation, was supposed to do and for not acting unethically. It’s unbelievable that this should happen to such a stellar conservative and human being.
Nuts fly. Sessions is a slower talking Southern gentleman whose cool is reflected in his resume, as fairly a sage in the Senate.
He is not a bluster blabber flack from back East or a Red Necked loud mouth if that’s what you mean.
His demeanor was the best you will ever see against some Marxist half-man like Kamela Harris. He dis-armed her morter fired questions by toying with her in that slow answer style of his, and I hooted openly when he made her have to repeat her question. She lost clock time grilling him and he turned her gas off. She was totally unable to pull off her vaunted crucifixtion

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate the wording there. It seems Sessions was justified to recuse himself, but I do want to read his precise wording during testimony also.
On the issue or recusal for firing, they tried to pin him on that, but I think you addressed that quite well, quoting him. He is still the head of that department, and has to judge things based on the overall picture, not just that one issue.
He also shot down the ventures into correct managerial procedure, in that when challenged on not writing up Comey, he pointed out that Comey did not report to him directly.
Comey reported to one of Sessions’ subordinates. That person would be in charge of writing him up.
Sessions was asked for his opinion by the president, and he gave it.
He covered the bases IMO.
On one further issue, you don’t have to invoke executive privilege to refuse to disclose private conversations with the president.
The president needs to know that he has a staff that will treat sensitive conversations with respect. Another words, he should not have to suspect everything he says will be aired in public. He has the Constitutional right to expect confidentiality on all conversations.
On some, when a national security issue is touched on, he can claim Executive privilege.
I think Trump wants to use that as seldom as possible. He is not trying to dodge the investigation, and he wants people to have faith in the process.
The Dems fully understand all this. They’re just trying to weasel around and make it look like obstruction. Some of them actually tried to use that ploy today.

This is absolutely what Trump needs to do; a massive purge. He 'll never be able to get anything done when he's constantly being hobbled by Obama loyalists and GOP establishment hacks. But with each passing minute, doing this becomes increasingly difficult.
But it needs to be done and it needs to be done now. First things first, shut down this farce of an investigation. And then start firing people. A lot of people. The sooner he does this, the sooner it'll be yesterday's news.
If President Trump cannot do this, then he cannot lead, and if he cannot lead, he needs to put someone in place who can. We may never have this opportunity again.
I was encouraged by his attitude about leakers, I don’t remember exactly what he said but, I expect some serious leaking charges in the future.

It seems Trump has nothing to lose to do what is right and take over the office for which he was elected... and get rid of all the enemy. I know it would be a hit if he fired mueller.. but if mueller goes after Trump, Trump will lose in that regard also. I’d go for the jugular!
Reagan went to the people every time... he talked directly to the people. Trump has to do that. Tell them what is going on and what has been the reason for the attacks.. tell the people about the lies, the set up, the media... if he can’t do a good job at it.. then get someone who can explain (Newt is very good at talking the talk to the people) and get it all out in front... then after that is done... and the fallout will be immediate... then fire mueller...and clean house!!! don’t be chicken in this battle.. do what you have to do, President Trump! You are in charge and up till now, the dems have had front row seat in taking charge.

Considering the magnitude of the violation, and Comey's testimony that he saw nothing wroing with what he did and might do it again, "writing his up" doesn't cut it.

Executive privilege isn't for Sessions to assert. It belongs to the president. Sessions also can't GIVE IT AWAY! He made a remark late in the hearing about the Senators not having to answer questions about their staff meetings.
The Committee know how to deal with this, it is no big deal. Write the questions, have Sessions carry them to Trump and ask if he (Sessions) is free to answer them or not, and come back with a response. That's the way it has to work. Trump isn't there to assert privilege, and Congress thinks it has the right to strip it from the president on some BS "fact finding" power Congress invented for itself.
This principle, like most legal principles, is easy to understand. The DEMs and the press spin a ball of confusion around it to create harm by innuendo, you are hiding something nefarious.
Excellent summation. I would add a few comments to Freepers to keep in mind:
First, the cardinal rule of depositions is that the witness take their time answering to ensure they understand the question. If there is any confusion, they are instructed to ask for a restatement. Further, they are cautioned to never volunteer information but to restrict their answers to exactly what was asked and no more.
Second, these dog and pony shows are for one purpose: to get the committee members fundraising ammunition, visibility and increase their chances of re-election. For the members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, this is a fairly rare opportunity for them to do so because many of their hearings are conducted in closed sessions and so a chance to shine on television cameras cannot be disregarded.
Third, generally senators don’t like being on this committee mainly because of the closed sessions and lack of chance for publicity. Lately the popularity of the committee has probably increased due to the Russia allegations. Both Republican and Democrat party leaders charge committee members a huge amount of money, in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, that each must commit to raise for the party. Jeff Sessions knows this and knows the game must be played. While he could call out the corrupt practice, there is also strategy in allowing the Democrats to do their best to alienate the American people who support Trump and common decency while being able to claim the Admnistration is cooperating with any legitimate concerns.
Yes, Sessions was a Trump campaign advisor, no one disputes that.
But WHERE is the "criminal investigation or prosecution" of the Trump campaign that Sessions needed to recuse himself from?
THERE HAS BEEN NONE. And there has never been a legitimate basis for instituting one.
In terms of actual FACTS, all of this comes down to Obama's intel chiefs saying they saw "contacts" between Russian officials and Trump people.
That is not sufficient to base a criminal investigation on. Russian officials have contacts with pretty much everyone who is anyone in Washington, D.C., including the Democrats.
The Russian Ambassador sat with the Democrats at the State of the Union Speech. If mere contact with Russian officials was sufficient to launch a criminal investigation, then every Democrat whom he sat with should be under investigation.
It was unnecessary for Sessions to recuse himself from the Russian hacking investigation in circumstances where there are no facts upon which to legitimately commence a criminal investigation of the Trump campaign related thereto.
They (Democrats) hate Russia for tying them into the Pedophilia of one John Podesta.
Let us all put his ass in front of Congress.
