Simple. The car companies are required to fold-in the cost of developing and then selling their ‘green models’, else they get hit with huge fines.

You’re paying for them.

Be glad too. Government regulations that requires more and more electronics on your vehicle. More expensive engines to comply with ridiculous emissions requirements. Labor union costs, contracts and ever expanding pension costs. Research for future vehicles. Monies set aside for litigation in case ANYBODY has an accident that could in any way, no matter how small, relate back to the manufacturer. Government mandated recalls. And last but not least (well maybe it is) profits for the shareholders.

Well you now get the benefit of having a touch screen radio and instead of 2 headlights you now have 6 or 8 which you can't turn off in the freakin' daytime and will each cost $300+ to replace.

Ain't those worth an extra $10-20K?

As I recall, the same thing was said of selling a car for $8,000.00 about 40 years ago.

That said, the price you quoted is for loaded trucks. More basic trucks list for much less, and I'm seeing big trucks discounted about 8-9 thousand dollars around here. If you're in the market, now might be a good time.

It costs more because our money has lost 60% of its value in the last 50 years. In 1967, we bought a new 2000 sq ft home on 2 acres in Beaumont, TX for $15,000. Our new Chrysler New Yorker sedan cost $4,000. Anyone who has lived in this country more than 40 years knows that our government has robbed us of 70% of our dollars’ value. The crooked politicians stole our money to build massive fortunes for themselves and their cronies & to buy the votes of the poor and the stupid. And what have we gotten for that massive transfer of wealth from US families to the greedy government? It still wasn’t enough, so they borrowed $20 TRILLION that generations yet unborn will have no way to pay back. The past three generations of politicians, with few exceptions, should have been jailed.
