Trump Pitches Solar-Panel Border Wall Where Generated Electricity Could Be Used To Pay For Cost
Hidden Americans ^ | 06/09/2017 | Richard Saunders

Axios reported that Trump floated the idea that the new border wall could be covered in solar panels and the electricity generated used to pay for the cost.

"Trump said his vision was a wall 40 feet to 50 feet high and covered with solar panels so they'd be "beautiful structures," the people said. The President said that most walls you hear about are 14 feet or 15 feet tall but this would be nothing like those walls. Trump told the lawmakers they could talk about the solar-paneled wall as long as they said it was his idea. One person cautioned that the President wasn't presenting the solar-paneled wall as the definite solution."

Since the solar panels will be facing south, we would be using Mexican sunshine to power them so Mexico would be paying for it AND it will be 'environmentally-friendly'. So it's a win, win, win.

Bruce Blakeman of Sustainable Technology, Inc. provides insight about the solar powered border wall proposal President Trump allegedly told Congressional GOP leaders about this week.

Actually, I saw the entire piece on FNC early this morning it was simply brilliant!

I think they were talking about 300 miles of border with solar panels.

The panels yield all kinds of power and we sell it to the Mexicons. So in essence they pay for the wall.

I never ever underestimate the boss! He seldom loses and I'm not tired of winning yet!!

Why don’t they put bicycles hooked to generators. Then they could use the illegals to pedal their way to freedom.

Okay, this would be my favorite plan.

Build a massive wall. Make a two way highway on top, two lanes in each direction.

Surface the top in those solar cells that one start up has been pushing for the last few years. (I do realize there are problems, since that never panned out. I do think it could be a working idea if some big tech folks got involved and helped perfect the product)

Then you charge $20.00 for folks who want to drive on the top of the wall. You provide off-ramps along the way, so that people could pull off for the night.

You’d have a motel network blossom along the border. It would become something akin to a 21st Century Route 66.

You could sell electronic billboard space on the Northern and Southern faces of the wall along cities.

The top would generate energy from the solar cells.

The entrance fee would raise a lot of money.

The advertising would generate a lot of money.

The taxes for business along the border would generate a lot of money.

New jobs would generation a lot of income tax.

Sounds like a bad idea. As others have already noted, panels would be prime targets for vandals. And how would the solar energy generated be used?

Walls 40 or 50 ft tall sounds good though.

He’s joking and playing with the liberals. Just imagine them not knowing which way to spin this.

The electricity would probably be sold to the grid like other power plants do.

"Trump floated the idea.."

Sounds like Trump mentioned it as a joke but the media is now reporting it like he was dead serious. This is an example of how our media twists and distorts.

Interesting but how long before sand, dust, etc. collecting on the surface affects the power output?

That is a REALLY good idea.
Unlike putting solar panels in OR or WA, it is sunny most of the time.

First, I don’t believe a word of this. Second, if it is true, it is a stupendously stupid idea.

“The electricity would probably be sold to the grid like other power plants do”

I’m curious about the engineering and design that would be required to connect solar collected energy to the grid. I worked 25 years in a power plant as an ME, and I’m not strong on EE, but I don’t know of any solar power that is connected to the grid.

I think China owns the solar panel market. What about the fact that the solar panels contain heavy metals like cadmium and other superfund type hazards. Oh goody.

He’d have to build a wall protecting the wall.

But it might be worth it if that’s what it takes to get to 40-50’ high. Just like the Great Wall of China, we would have the Great Wall of Trump that could probably be seen with good satellite photos from space.

Use them to electrify the wall too.

You have to just love Trump! Whether or not this is a good idea or not is immaterial. This man never stops thinking of ways to gain for our country. He’s a one in a million! Can you imagine ANY of the other GOP a$$holes doing anything near what President Trump is doing ( that is if any of them could actually have beaten Hillary)? I can just see “Little Yebbie” in the oval office playing with himself all day, while the RATs went on their merry destructive way unabated. We are so, so fortunate to have Trump.

The only part of this proposal I like is how it makes their heads spin.

Perhaps overlapping windmills behind the tops of the walls could be positioned so that barbed wire would be unnecessary? :)
