Shortly after inauguration, I wrote about the Trump administration's decision to continue the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty. During the campaign, Trump (correctly) lambasted Obama's unilateral amnesty program as illegal and pledged to stop it on day one. But not only did he not stop it, DHS has continued to process renewals and even new applications, for illegal aliens who did not already have this two-year renewable work permit.

He only needs a pen and one hand to stop the “DREAMERS” (DACA).
Trump can sign an Executive Order that stops all DACA renewals and stops all new applications for a DACA deferral.
Problem over.
DACA families and individuals will self-deport.

Trump has always been center-left on every important political issue, except for violent illegal immigrants, business, and maybe judicial appointments.
No one is influencing Trump on DACA.
He never intended to overturn DACA.
He lied because he needed Conservative votes to get elected.
CIS is center-right on all immigration issues.
They support huge reductions in LEGAL immigration, H-1B visas, etc., and they support universal E-Verify, and they support Amnesty for about 25% of the 11 million illegals.
It's very ironic that you compare CIS to the Southern Poverty Law Center because SPLC has publicly labeled the Center for Immigration Studies as a “hate group.”

Unless Obama renewed and accepted new applications at a HUGE rate during the first 14 business days in January, Trump is renewing and accepting new applications at the same rate as Obama.

After Trump wrapped up the nomination in March 2016, I never said a bad word about the guy until February 2017.

They’re the ones who convinced him to go with GOPe Priebus as chief-of-staff and hire almost exclusively GOPe traitors and Democrats for his administration. They’re they ones who have been trying to get him to fire Bannon almost from the start. They have a leftist position on immigration just like they do on climate change, family leave, etc., and Ivanka especially has been keen on twisting her father’s administration to that poisonous vision.
Who is trying to bring down Trump by discouraging his base? I don’t think folks here are trying to do that. They are trying to get him back on track and acknowledging the truth of the situation.
