Sifting through the wreckage of the 2016 election, Democratic pollsters, strategists and sympathetic academics have reached some unnerving conclusions.
What the autopsy reveals is that Democratic losses among working class voters were not limited to whites; that crucial constituencies within the party see its leaders as alien; and that unity over economic populism may not be able to turn back the conservative tide.
Equally disturbing, winning back former party loyalists who switched to Trump will be tough: these white voters views on immigration and race are in direct conflict with fundamental Democratic tenets.
Some of these post-mortem conclusions are based on polling and focus groups conducted by the Democratic super PAC Priorities USA; others are drawn from a collection of 13 essays published by The American Prospect.

NY Times: The Democratic Party Is in Worse Shape Than You Thought,
I noticed that too, and it shows that despite clear evidence Democrat leaders will never give up the identity politics model even though it's killing them. It really isn't about race fundamentally but they're grimly determined to treat it no other way.
The Democrats dont have a white working-class problem. They have a working-class problem, which progressives have been reluctant to address honestly or boldly.
This analyst is correct. I noticed that as soon as I saw the unfiltered numbers from the election returns. And the comment about the alarm over a confiscatory government applies throughout the working class because they're the ones who will be fleeced. An entertainment celebrity who brings in millions a year doesn't care, black, white, or otherwise. A working class stiff does, black, white, or otherwise, because it's his paycheck that's getting gobbled up.
I tried to make this point to some liberal acquaintances the other day and nobody was listening. A guy in the corner I knew from one of my history classes laughs and says very loudly, "You might as well save your breath." Somebody asked him what he meant and he said, "I'm a Marxist. He's a Trump voter. And we're telling you the same thing. What is it going to take for you idiots to [bleeping] listen?" All he got was the cow-eyes. They're not listening.
How bad is it? HERE is an article from a WaPo editor who recommends hospice treatment for the entire white working class. As in, "we know you're dying out and may as well make it as comfortable as possible." Apart from this not-so-veiled reference to managed genocide, the attitude expressed is that of an elitist who feels the future of the country is urban, brown, and dependent. And that portion of the urban and brown population that does happen to be working class moved to Trump for precisely the reasons they're finding it so hard to fathom.
Identity politics is fine for slicing up the economic pie, which is why socialists are so very fond of it, but it doesn't work very well for those who have to bake the pie in the first place, whatever race, sex, sexual preference, or whatever other class distinction du jour is echoing among the cognoscenti in the media. It's all about the paycheck and putting shoes on the kids, guys, and if you're fortunate enough not to have to worry about that you might want to listen to those who do.
Here’s hoping that Clinton runs again and finishes it off.
So long as you understand that you will bake the pie cake you'll be fine.
LOL! That’s a fact. Turns out “from each according to his ability” ends in “or else.” Details, details...
MAGA, with 'em or without 'em, MAGA!, DJT
I forced myself to read many of the comments after the story. These people really are insane. They are socialism’s true believers and useful idiots.
Remember the Democrat mantra:
1 PROMISE EVERYTHING
2 DO NOTHING
3 BLAME OTHERS
I’d put in Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, MO and Kansas City, MO on that list, too.
They take Salon.com as the voice of moderation and reason, and as absolute truth. When people don’t agree, then they scream at them that they’re hateful, fearful, stupid and uneducated.
“NY Times: The Democratic Party Is in Worse Shape Than You Thought,”
Meanwhile, are Ryan & McConnell even ALIVE? Oh yes........I read at Breitbart that both are having a “love in” with Flake, et al with Romney in Salt Lake City to pow wow on how to completely SABOTAGE the balance of Trump’s agenda (As if they haven’t already done that).
Yep they are here, been all over the news...
The ‘Mormon Mafia’ is at it again...
Utah toasting all the has beens once again. As IF Romney know squat about squat. So he’s won a few, he failed at winning the BIG ONE.
Thanks for the confirmation.
Romney knew enough to toss the election to Obama, but that’s about it.
Great news!
Dems follow Hillary and Obama. They believe Goldman Sachs etc. will solve all their problems. Let’s see, how much did Hillary have to spend on the 2016 election?
There are some that will never get it, and they’ll vote rat even after they are dead.
The democrat party can’t be in worse shape then I think they are... my guess is they’re finished.
The people democrats have lost are lost for decades... democrats can’t turn this one around in time to save the party.

“Democrats dont have a white working-class problem. They have a working-class problem, which progressives have been reluctant to address honestly or boldly. The fact is that Democrats have lost support with all working-class voters across the electorate, including the Rising American Electorate of minorities, unmarried women, and millennials. “
