Pittsburgh Forensic Pathologist Says JFK Assassination Investigation Is Far From Over

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A Pittsburgh forensic pathologist says the investigation into the JFK assassination is far from over.

On Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was murdered in broad daylight in Dallas, Texas. The Warren Commission concluded Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone when he shot the president from the 6th floor of the Texas Book Depository. For years, many have doubted those conclusions and believed it was a greater conspiracy.

One of the most outspoken critics of the Warren Report is nationally-acclaimed forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht.

I'm reading Bugliosi's book, the one where he defends the Warren Report. I have a lot of respect for Bugliosi (though he got Bush v Gore wrong). I am only 100 pages into it, so check back with me next year and I will let you know how it turns out.

So far though, two take-a-ways: He does not refute Hugh McDonald's 'Appointment in Dallas', though he does ridicule it (you lose points on that Vince) and so far he also gives Jim Garrison the short shrift.

Not convinced (yet) that LHO was not a patsy.

A problem is that the WC testimony from the FBI expert witness states that the gun was basically crap. He does not come out and say that, since Hoover was pushing the Lone Nut theory, but his meaning is clear. As found it was completely inoperative. Big problem with the sights and the bolt.

Where did Oswald learn how to shoot, his deteriorating Marine score would not get any better without practice.

Unlike many here I don’t pretend to know what actually happened or why but I do have questions about the Warren Commission report. Oswald is celebrated as a Marine Sharpshooter. But the Sharpshooter designation is not the highest level. If you are a 2 bit wannabe you buy a Manlicher-Carcano. If you are a serious assassin you use a Remington 700. If you are even a Sharpshooter depending on surprise in your high percentage first shot before the motorcade takes evasive action making all subsequent shots lower percentage you don’t make your first shot high and to the left penetrating a curb. The alleged murder weapon was found at the Texas School Book Depository yet an identical weapon was found in Oswald’s home? No one’s hands are clean in this and too much money was made in the Vietnam war to ignore potential conspirators.

“Ultimate Sacrifice” lays out the most plausible scenario with the Mafia doing the killing and essentially blackmailing the intelligence agencies to cover it up. CIA, Mafia cooperation in trying to kill Castro gave the Outfit the in to force the CIA’s hand in order not to reveal what the Agency had been up to contrary to the direct orders from the President.

When you apply the logical method of Scotland Yard: Means, Motive, Opportunity - the conclusion comes up Mafia.

Cruz got out of the Presidential race very quickly, after Trump commented on the family history and link to JFK events. It was remarkable. One moment Cruz was committed to stay in the race, and had considerable support, esp from the establishment of the Republican party. Then - off he went, he resigned from it.

Looking at Forensic evidence is normal but may have been altered or misunderstood at Parkland or the autopsy at Bethesda but it makes more sense to investigate who LHO REALLY was. Some think he played the part of a “Pro-Red” and was told to bring his rifle to work that day...

Oswald said he was “just a patsy” - I think if he really was the one who killed Kennedy - being as how he was in custody, why not take the glory for killing the capitalist JFK.

From the article: “The 1992 JFK Records Release Act calls for documents that have been hidden from the public to be released after 25 years. 2017 is the year when that will happen. Wecht cannot wait for the new evidence to be released.”

I agree. New evidence will be interesting. Michael Medved said a few years ago that the JFK case was a simple homicide and should be a simple, closed case. Well, JFK was looking for support in Texas after being critical about the Federal Reserve. Sadly, JFK was an ethical mess and it is difficult to defend him.

When I’ve watched the slow-motion versions of the Zapruder film on YouTube, the final shot seems to come from the front left grassy knoll not the right.

Re: Earl Warren said that Kennedy had “suffered martyrdom as a result of the hatred and bitterness that has been injected into the life of our nation by bigots.”

I'm surprised to read that.

Earl Warren was an aggressive anti-crime county prosecutor for 14 years and was attorney general of California for 4 more years.

He once stated that JFK's assassination was the most open and shut murder case he had ever seen.

Also ironic that the driver of the car carrying Archduke Ferdinand made a wrong turn, eventually sending the vehicle right into Gravilo Princip’s hands, giving the assassin the change to shoot and launch WWI, but it happened, and the driver wasn't in on it.

I have not read that book, but I’ve read Case Closed and Conspiracy of One, and just about every pro-conspiracy book that’s come out. There is simply no evidence that anyone other than Oswald pulled the trigger.

That book is great and the mafia played a role, that is for sure. It’s not the whole story. Poppy Bush had 2-3 elaborate alibis including using his wife. Why? I don’t know.

I’ve also done extensive reading, as well as on the ground observation.

I agree, the evidence trail begins and ends with Oswald.

That’s why you see all the suppositions as opposed to evidence.

The scope lead the shot up amd to the right, which was exactly the direction the car was moving. Furthermore he didn't need to use the scope.

"There are published theories that Oswald used the open sights on the gun, because the thinking is he could not zero the optics anyway, and that using the awkward side optic would take too long between shots to aim. Our open sights are not adjustable, but they were pretty close to point-of-aim horizontally, but would require about an 8″ hold under. Oswald’s rifle had the same non-adjustable sights as this test gun, and it is very possible that at that distance, only 58 yards or so, he used the iron sights."

I was just in Dealey Plaza a month ago. The shot was easy.
