A bar that wants to maintain a classy atmosphere has released a dress code, which some are calling racist.
The Bottled Blonde, a pizzeria and beer garden in Chicago, recently posted a sign on its doors outlining a lengthy dress code. Here are a few examples from the list of banned items:
No Excessively Baggie, Sagging, Ripped, Dirty, Frayed, Overly Flashy, or Bright clothing. No hawaiian, tie dye, floral, skull prints, or anything else obnoxious. No gang attire (leather cuts, colors, or insignias) and no camouflage. No Embellishments or Statement [attire]. No plain white tees, long tees, denim, flannel or zippers on shirts. Tank tops before 6 PM only. No Jordans, Nike Air Max, or Air Force Ones. Hats must be worn forward at all times.
On Monday, a photo of the sign captioned Apparently Bottled Blonde only wants GAP patrons was posted by user xxirish83x to Reddit, where it received more than 400 comments from people who debated whether the dress code was racist or classist.
As others have pointed out, this dress code isnt to keep black people out, wrote Reddit user LeaveIttoBeaver. Its to keep poor people out. They want good looking customers who have money to spend on $6 PBR. runandkickgirl added, A simplified version of this sign: Dress Code: Hooded white sheets only.

Bad mental image!!!
I'm pretty sure they're talking about do-rags.
Sounds fine to me (but try “no burkhas” and let me know how that works out).
Customers who dress UP want others to do the same. I bet their business explodes! And hope so.
That will cause them a ton of headaches for sure because it strips them of the moral high ground, and it is illogical.
Friday wears Más a Tierra shirts.
2 brunettes working at the Bottled Blonde? The irony of it all...
baseball hats
People used to dress up to go shopping.
People used to dress up to go to the doctor.
People used to dress up to fly.
People used to dress up to go anywhere outside the house.
Now, it’s wear whatever wherever.........I see people in Walmart wearing pajamas!................
Okay. I’ll give them that the sign was a little to wordy, with details that depict the minorities occasional code of dress being *out* and the white guy’s dressing habits, *in*.
Why not just say suit and tie required? The owner could fudge the requirement anytime he wished, but at least the Rules would start at the top of maximum dress code and keep out the riff raff.
oops.
to - “too”
Knit stocking caps??
I live with it.
Me?
If I'm mowing and the belt breaks, I go as I am and get another, come home and put it on and keep mowing.
Embarrasses the JIT out of my wife.
"You always go out looking like a bum"
sighhh
Take her with you to the auto parts store sometime, so she can see all the guys dress just like you................
heh heh
Sounds like a typical couple with roots in the Old South.
Seriously, I’m always amazed at old photos of places like state fairs or baseball games or Chautauquas where everyone is wearing Sunday best clothes, in the summer, outside.
Filipina's dress and smell good everywhere they go ... it just IS.
No amount of explaining or "showing" changes anything.
You'd think; "Look, honey, American men work and we don't waste time dressing up just to get a nut and a bolt" .. would mean something, right?
nope.
They don't want thugs, that's all. But they can't come right out and say, "no thugs" so they have to implement this convoluted dress code in an effort to discourage them.
And they want the type of customers who also don't want thugs. This is Chicago, after all.
