The New York Times, in a front-page story, said that the president “wanted to splinter the CIA in a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.” Whether that quote is accurate or not we don’t know, but it makes sense that after the agency damaged the president’s reputation so badly, he would react with such anger. If you are a student of history, you already know that the president who swore a vendetta against the Central Intelligence Agency wasn’t Donald Trump, but John F. Kennedy, and that although he did not abolish the agency before his assassination, he did fire its director, Allen Dulles, in an effort to gain control over what was considered a rogue agency that had forced Kennedy’s hand in the Bay of Pigs disaster. The tangled tentacles of the CIA’s machinations wind their way throughout President Kennedy’s shortened term in office, from the Bay of Pigs through the Mafia assassination attempts against Fidel Castro to Kennedy’s own assassination, and then reappear in the Watergate break-in (five of the so-called Watergate “burglars” had connections to the CIA) and in the secret White House tapes where President Nixon is heard telling his chief of staff to tell CIA director Richard Helms that the arrest of the burglars is “likely to blow the whole Bay of Pigs thing which we think would be very unfortunate for CIA and the country at this time, and for American foreign policy.”

Those are Kennedy’s own reports to Congress.
Kennedy inherited an invasion plan from Eisenhower that included both air and sea support. Kennedy stripped away both for political reasons which ultimately doomed the invasion to failure. He had no one to blame but himself and the Harvard eggheads that he chose for advisors, having cut the military out of the loop. This is all detailed in McMaster’s book which opens with Kennedy’s dismantling of the national security apparatus that Ike had built.

Fake news. It remains to be seen whether Trump is at war with the CIA.
The fake news makes up stories daily out of thin air, citing “sources within the administration” which can never be verified.
The fake stories usually tell of some sort of infighting or chaos within the executive branch, and then compound it with the suggestion that there are disloyal “leakers” within the ranks in intelligence depts, the justice department or state.
No doubt, there truly are Obama holdovers and others who are not supportive of Trump - some probably act on it and run interference or even sabotage his efforts. But this is probably no more the case in this administration than in any other new administration where the White House changed hands from Democrat to Republican, or visa versa.
The real story here is the fake news itself, which has reached new levels of absurdity and goes largely unchallenged, except the POTUS himself through his wonderful tweets, and a few others like Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity.
FReepers are generally vigilant in refuting fake news if you read down into the comments.
However, I am often struck by how many fake news stories are posted here without any kind of a fake news alert.
There may be reasons for why this happened so much -
1) there isn’t much news that isn’t fake to choose from.
2) there seems to be a rule about altering headlines (?)
3) there seems to be a large devil’s advocate contingent
4) there seem to be some FReepers who still trust the MSM
5) there are concern trolls
6) often fake news is clever - wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing
I do like the discussion it sparks when FReepers post these fake news stories. But I worry that doing this runs counter to any effort to combat the MSM.
Shouldn’t we be boycotting the MSM? Don’t they thrive on readership, much like the cable news shows thrive on ratings? If we repost these articles, read them, often click on the source link, and then pay lip service by using them as a discussion topic, aren’t we giving them exactly the attention that is their life’s blood?
It is so crucial to our cause that the MSM is discredited, choked off and suffocated - hopefully meeting an untimely and unpleasant death.
Trump is doing his part calling out the fake news with his tweets - what can we do to further their demise?
Mexico has been interfering in our elections since LBJ!
How many millions of $’s/Pesos has Mexico donated to the democrats to keep their illegals in America, since LBJ?
How much money did Obama and Clinton receive personally and for their elections?
How many illegal Mexicans voted for Illiarily in the last election and for Obama's two terms?
How many illegal Mexicans voted for rats in our cities, counties, states and of course at our federal level?
How many Hispanic tv channels do we have on Comcast, Direct TV, Dish TV and other tv providers, that we pay for and don’t speak Spanish? Who owns those Spanish only channels? Why do we have to pay for Spanish TV channels/stations, when we don’t speak Spanish?
Who owns the NY Slimes and other election meddling companies?
It is past time for our Congress to stop the Mexican meddling/interference/hacking at every level in America.

My take is Russia is more a problem for ‘the deep state’ than for American citizens. We spend waaaaaaay too much time, energy and money on them. Fake news is profitable.
The New York Times hit piece on the Comey memo earned the paper its most concurrent readers per second. Pretty good for a piece about a piece of paper that the leftist paper had never even seen and which was, supposedly, described to it by one of Comey’s associates.
But that didn’t stop it from racking up over 6 million views.
Media fake news isn’t just an agenda. It’s enormously profitable. Hit pieces powered by anonymous sources bring in over 100,000 readers in an age when live is king. For individual reporters, finding a source, real or fake, that can back up the left’s Trump conspiracy theories can put them on the map.

Right, the higher the ratings, the readership, the subscriptions, the more traffic, views, clicks and links they get, the more profitable.
But it’s not only the advertising sponsors that pay, it’s also the political sponsors. The left directly funds the fake news, since the MSM is the left’s very own propaganda machine.
This sums up the image the CIA, NSA, DIA and FBI have brought upon themselves. Corrupt, fanatical and no sense of right and wrong or a clue about what the oath they swore means.
Because they refused to police themselves this is the caricature they have become. Throw in the incompetent Col. Klink from Hogans Hero’s and you have a complete picture of all these agencies. And it is their own doing...
I suspect many of them are the leakers.
I think that (MKULTRA stuff) happened with the ‘right winger kid - Roof ‘ who killed innocent blacks in a South Carolina Church too. He confused the Irish Republican Army with the NRA - National Rifle Association. His position after the murders was surprise that he didn’t save a bullet for himself - like he knew he was suppose to shoot himself. Also, he and that other racist shooter - the old guy - both had contact with the Southern Law Poverty Center... a group that dearly wants reality to mimic the lying stories they put out. People who have never dealt with brain washing think it’s a hoax - it’s not...
