Thanks to Trump, Germany says it can’t rely on the United States. What does that mean?
Washington Post ^ | May 28, 2017 | Henry Farrell

German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a crowd Sunday in southern Germany that Europe can no longer rely on foreign partners.

Merkel on Sunday declared a new chapter in U.S.-European relations after contentious meetings with President Trump last week, saying that Europe “really must take our fate into our own hands.”

Offering a tough review in the wake of Trump’s trip to visit E.U., NATO and Group of Seven leaders last week, Merkel told a packed Bavarian beer hall rally that the days when Europe could rely on others was “over to a certain extent. This is what I have experienced in the last few days.”

-snip

Now, Merkel is suggesting that the Americans aren’t really in, and, by extension, Germany and Europe are likely to take on a much more substantial and independent role than they have in the past 70 years.

This is thanks to Trump

Merkel’s comment about what she has experienced in the past few days is a clear reference to President Trump’s disastrous European tour. Her belief that the United States is no longer a reliable partner is a direct result of Trump’s words and actions. The keystone of NATO is Article 5, which has typically been read as a commitment that in the event that one member of the alliance is attacked, all other members will come to its aid.

-snip

However, Trump did not express his commitment to Article 5 in his speech to NATO, instead lambasting other NATO members for not spending enough money on their militaries. When Trump went on to the Group of Seven meeting in Italy, he declined to recommit to the Paris agreement on climate change, leaving the other six nations to issue a separate statement.

What this means is that if President Trump ever does mess up, his supporters will dismiss anything the overwhelmingly biased WaPost says on the issue. It also means if President Trump is as successful as I expect, WaPost readers will be just as surprised with President Trump’s reelection as they were with Hillary’s glorious defeat seven months ago.

Excellent summary versus the croc tears:

“Germany and Europe are likely to take on a much more substantial and independent role than they have in the past 70 years.

This is thanks to Trump”

I call that WINNING!

Trump/America win again!

Until now I've been in the habit of buying German cars...cars other than VWs.But having seen what's gone on in Europe over the last few years, particularly Germany,I've decided that I've bought my last German car.And to add to the equation I'm gonna continue...actually,*intensify*...my efforts to avoid Airbus when flying.

Germany's efforts to destroy Europe, efforts that began 100+ years ago, clearly continue. There's got to be something in the German psyche, the German "soul",that's basically inconsistent with civilized Western democracy...the system born in Great Britain and then taught to the United States,Canada and Australia.

I think we should have left Germany in ruins in 1945...things couldn't have turned out any worse for Western society than they have.

Let Germany pay for the bigger army and staff the operation with Germans.

Not in my book.

Mine either. Watching Trump shove world leaders was well worth the price tag. Also, looking at the solemn faces of the G7 as they were getting a little lecture about global fiances and the new deal going forward, was the icing on the cake for me.

It’s meaningless. It just means she is a globalist pig who wants mass muslim migration into her country. Maybe we should pull our protective shield out and let the Russians eat her lunch. She’s a petulant pig, just because the British people dare to want to run their own sovereign country. That pig owes us everything she’s from East Germany, which we liberated. I despise her.

It means that way too many people still sniff the MSM’s flatulence disguised as real news.

Took me years to figure out that the best thing for a Euro politician is to have their people constanty complaining about the US. That means that they’re less likely to expect real performance out of their leaders.

“By not building up their own military and by importing a Muslim military I would say they had indeed taken their fate in their own hands.”

Maybe the Germans will finally get what they’ve had coming to them for both WW’s.

Did Obama write Merkel’s speech?

On a day of odd political coincidences, Merkel sat down with one President she calls a friend and with whom she shares a political wavelength — Barack Obama, and another, with whom she has had a frosty start — Donald Trump.
Merkel, the most powerful leader in Europe, first met Obama in Berlin discussing democracy and faith at the Brandenburg Gate . . .

Germany has chosen an alliance with an emerging European caliphate.

Which shall be centered in Turkey.

Turkey already has a considerable army of expatriates living in Germany, which have been imported on an increasing level since sometime back in the 1960’s, to offset Germany’s almost static or even declining birth rate.

Now the new horde of invading militant Islamic jihadists can mobilize and radicalize the growing Muslim minority in Germany. Germany is doomed to go the way of Lebanon.

Close all the remains military bases in Germany, and send the 50K+ GIs home. US military bases boosts the German economy, and costs them jobs.

She said it, they “can no longer rely on the US”...so, let’s make it so.
