NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - There's a new push to have more monuments removed in New Orleans, including the French Quarter's iconic Andrew Jackson statue.
The group Take Em Down Nola says the removal of four statues is not enough.
"We're issuing an invitation to the mayor to finish the job. He has already begun the job, and we want him to finish the job," said Malcolm Suber, Take Em Down NOLA spokesman.
"What we would like to see in their place is people who stood for people and liberation. For instance, we think since Harriet Tubman is going to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill," Suber said. "We don't understand why we can't turn Jackson Square into Harriet Tubman Square. At Lee Circle, we don't understand why we can't turn Lee Circle into Dorothy Mae Taylor Circle. Dorothy Mae Taylor was one of the most courageous black leaders in this city. She led the effort to desegregate Mardi Gras."

The official name used by the war department was the war of the rebellion. This I believe is most accurate. The United States had an election according to the constitution. There was no accusations of fraud or tampering in this election. Some southern states did not like the outcome of the election and decided to rebel by breaking away and forming their own country. So the democrats of 1860 said “not my president” just like the democrats of today like to do.
I find myself hardening to the destructive influence SJW are having on the common welfare.
I find the fascinating as the statue of Jefferson Davis is being protected by different groups in New Orleans while they are tearing down other confederate symbols. History has recorded at the time of the start of the civil war, he was the owner of over 100 slaves worth over $80t. And a few of the protectors are African American groups. So what’s the point of doing the damage of history if it is selective? It makes it irrelevant. It accomplishes nothing and proves no point. Stupidity.

Now that you mention it, I think I do remember being taught something along those lines in government schools some seasons back. The teacher’s union approved textbook said Lincoln and the north fought to “free the slaves.”

A rebellion is when on side tried to take over the country. The South just wanted to leave and start their own country.
Lincoln was a brilliant man and the South would have fared much better had he lived but he was also a Marxist and would have probably formed the world’s first Communist nation. He had enough radical Republicans in his ranks to do it too.
When Lincoln won the election, Karl Marx immediately wrote him a letter of support. When American Communists, joined with those in Spain fighting in the Spanish revolution, they pointedly called themselves the Abraham Lincoln Brigade. They knew what they were doing.

They need to put up statues of the many, historic, black slave OWNERs of New Orleans. Not near enough folks, of any races, are aware of their contributions.
The camel’s nose is in the tent. Its going to take some extreme measures to reverse the trend of allowing the race of professional victims have their way.

Then there was the issue of wealthy northern industrialists funding terrorist operations against the south and northern governors granting sanctuaries to the terrorists.
Under the covenants of the U.S. constitution (Article IV), states were/are obligated to honor extradition requests. Northern states would not and that was one reason the south wanted to peacefully separate from the covenant breakers.
I used to really like people. These cretins are making me dislike them. Let them go build some other square and name it whatever the heck they want. Likewise for the circle.
Instead of replacing Andy Jackson on the 20 dollar bill, they should have just produced a 25 dollar bill or something for Tubman. Why can’t there be additional honors? Why do they have to diss the past and crap all over everyone else’s efforts? So tired of this crap.
