Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary John Kelly has promised the big business lobby tens of thousands of cheaper, blue-collar foreign workers despite President Donald Trump’s ‘Hire American’ initiative.
During a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kelly told Senators that he was lobbied by the financial and open borders lobby to expand the H-2B visa, and also by pro-American worker groups who see the visa as a detriment to Americans’ wages and job opportunities.
“They’re caving to the business interest, rather than the people that elected them,” pro-American lawyer John Miano told Breitbart Texas. “Everyone but the very top is being screwed by these immigration policies.”
The H-2B visa is for non-agricultural, low-skilled seasonal work, supplying resorts, hotels and the seafood and landscaping industry with thousands of cheap, foreign employees. Every year, 66,000 H-2B jobs are given to foreign workers and this year, House Speaker Paul Ryan’s 2017 budget gave Kelly the power to expand the number of foreigners who can enter the U.S. on the visa by up to 70,000 more.
Center for Immigration Studies Director Mark Krikorian said that because Kelly is new to the H-2B visa issue, it makes him “a natural candidate for being captured by the cheap labor lobbyists, and that is what seems to have happened.”
Kelly’s surrendering on the H-2B issue, after Trump promised a staunch ‘Hire American’ agenda at the beginning of his presidency, is a win for Speaker Ryan, who pushed to put the expansion in the Secretary’s hands.
With the expansion, Ryan can claim victory for the business lobby, while at the same time shifting public backlash of the decision from Congress to the Trump administration.
Krikorian, though, says Kelly does not have an obligation to expand the H-2B visa..

A changing demographic in this country will be able to undo anything positive that Trump can do whether by EO or legislation, it will matter not one whit when the third world population gets to vote here against the American interest.
This is why Ann Coulter was right and still gets beat up badly here for pointing out that fact. Immigration is not just an issue, it is the only issue because it has the ability to destroy the Republic at the ballot box.
With 80% of immigrants needing some sort of subsidy we will need it.

I stand 100% behind MY PRESIDENT as well and just because I think Immigration is the only issue because almost all the other issues are driven by immigration, I get upset when he fails to shut it down. You should too because he can do it with a pen doesn't even need a phone, Obama type or otherwise.

Exactly why nothing ever gets fixed. I support Trump and always have but immigration, if not dealt with, will make him a one term president and likely have a democrat congress to deal with in next term. I have read most if not all your posts and supported all of them but Trump is not an emperor that can do no wrong. Mistakes can be made by anyone but he ran on major issues one of them being that DACA was illegal yet he now endorses it.
He was suckered on ObamaCare by both Houses, he needed to called them out instead he fought for it and lost anyway because it will never get past the Senate.
He is my President right or wrong, but calling wrong, right doesn't help. We are not sycophants here, well most aren't.
I’m in favor of anything that’ll keep them out of here. But, at the end of the day, the only reason they come here, is for the lure of the benefits and the citizenship. Take that away and the whole problem disappears.
It is not Kelly who is surrendering, but Trump.
Jivanka I am sure are happy about it. I think the Trumps use these visas in their own businesses, too.
Seasonality doesn’t really make a difference. These are the sorts of jobs that college students who otherwise need loans should be taking. Instead, taxpayers are having to pay up lending money they will never give back—and shouldn’t have been deprived of the use of anyway.
