The race to fill Montana's sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives took a violent turn Wednesday, and a crew from the Fox News Channel, including myself, witnessed it firsthand.
As part of our preparation for a story about Thursday's special election to air on "Special Report with Bret Baier," we arranged interviews with the top two candidates, Republican Greg Gianforte and Democrat Rob Quist. On Wednesday, I joined field producer Faith Mangan and photographer Keith Railey in Bozeman for our scheduled interview with Gianforte, which was to take place at the Gianforte for Congress Bozeman Headquarters.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"
~snip~
Scanlon (Gianforte's press sec) later issued a statement saying that Jacobs "entered the [campaign] office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Greg's face, and began asking badgering questions.
Later, the statement added, "After asking Jacobs to lower the recorder, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs grabbed Greg's wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. It's unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ."

Alright, now we're pals!
Good. I hope he wins. We need some Republicans who are willing fight.
"Are you more or less likely to vote for a candidate if they body slam a reporter?"
More likely 89%
Less likely 11%
So I am predicting a GOP win.
Sounds perfect for Majority Whip...
We win, no big deal. We lose, 42/7 headlines for a week.
I grew up in a coal mining town in SE Montana and there were a lot of people from Butte and Anaconda that moved there during the boom. Nice people but rabidly Demonrat.
Most people outside of Montana don’t know about the communist-led riots in Butte in the early 1900s.
Yeah, it’s sad to see what has happened to that profession. It’s the easiest major on college campuses, it attracts the worst of the worst leftist morons that write like 5th graders. The editors are older versions of the same lowlifes, the crap that they let go is appalling. George Stephanoctopus is the new American dream: go work on a DemonRat’s presidential campaign, work for them in the front office when they win, then 8 years later get paid $11 million dollars a year to read a teleprompter. The whole thing makes me want to find a garbage can and do the technicolor yawn, which is the same caliber as their “reporting”. /rant off
It appears that Gianforte was able to parlay the body slamming of a liberal reporter into a successful campaign strategy and win the election!
Gianforte for Press Secretary!
.
Reporter is obviously a term used loosely!
