A week filled with developments from the Trump administration has MSNBC leading primetime and CNN boasting total day demo victories.
There hasn't been a horse race like this in cable news in quite some time... if ever.
A week of humbling headlines for the embattled Trump administration proved to be ratings pay dirt for CNN and MSNBC, each of which scored significant victories in different day parts. Simultaneously, Fox News Channel posted its first five-day streak at No. 3 in primetime since 2000.
Both CNN and MSNBC nabbed big wins among adults 25-54, with CNN winning total day in the key demo for the workweek and MSNBC scoring in primetime. Though it was a tight race between 8 and 11 p.m. throughout the week, FNC ranked below the other two for the first time in almost 17 years.
Primetime Averages for May 15-19 1. MSNBC: 611,000 adults 25-54; 2.44 million viewers 2. CNN: 589,000 adults 25-54; 1.65 million viewers 3. FNC: 497,000 adults 25-54; 2.41 million viewers
Standout telecasts include CNN's Anderson Cooper 360. With Bill O'Reilly now out of play in the 8 o'clock time slot for more than a month, Cooper placed No. 1 for the hour Monday through Friday. (The last time CNN had such a streak in the hour was during coverage of the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001.) MSNBC and FNC traded off the No. 2 slot, with O'Reilly replacement Tucker Carlson coming in at No. 3 on several nights.

FOX is committing suicide right before our very eyes. We have moved to OAN for the daily news, Tipping Point, and Ledger. We only do FBN anymore for Charles Payne, Lou Dobbs, and FOX for Tucker, and Hannity, and weekends Judge Jeanine. Once in awhile we catch Gutfeld, but rarely.
Wow, what commentary! FR is back baby....
Nice going, Murdochs. Your shareholders might like an explanation.....
FOX isnt a conservative news network anymore.
They never were, they just Sold Conservative analysis. Now they are just showing their true colors as two bit whores like the rest, destined to destroy Civilized Society based on morals and virtue.
I agree. I never understood why they had to have liberals on their network. I hate the discussion panels with all the idiots yelling at each other, too.
Justice with Judge Jeanine is one of the best shows remaining on Fox.
Something tells me your a troll here..or a Never Trumper, did you support that McMuffin strange character, just wondering.
Fox’s format is more like tabloid MSM every year. Panels of four or five people screaming at each other. Dems blurting out the most obscene and vicious lies with nobody calling them on it. They’re trying too hard to be cute, when all we really want is the news.
Surprised Carlson is not doing better. One of the few good shows left.
The problem I have with his show is all the talking over of each other. The debate format has been fun for awhile, but it’s starting to wear thin with all the cacophony.
Faux Snooze broke it and we ain’t gonna help fix it! The “boys” are running daddy’s network into the ground!
You left off Shemp!
“Maddow dominates Cooper.”
She’s a bigger guy than he is.
WTF are you talking about?
Gee..you fire your #1 rated TV personality in the name of advancing your political agenda, and your ratings drop?
Who would have ever thunk it?
</shocked!>
LOL Hetro Sex get you run off but sodomy and carpet munching gets you the number one rating.
Tom, the Fox news side is unwatchable.
We are strictly FOX Business news, now. Varney, Trish Regan, and the late afternoon crew are great. Capped off with the best jaws of them all, Lou Dobbs for evening. Who needs anything more?
Would love to see the ratings for the FOX Business channel. Increased ratings for the Business side would give the “See ya!’” story to the goofy Murdochs. Done with FOX and Martha and Chris Wallace, the Dana Purina dogs and all of them.
Sean and Tucker are laborious, talk, talk, talk over their low rung guests. Give me Lou.
Quit watching fox when a preponderance of lip beaters started to appear both as employees and more as unopposed guests.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing - oh, the imagery!
If only Fox were more like CNN
A prefect description of the new afternoon show "Specialists". That thing is a complete disaster. I know it is not on in prime time, but its very existence is testimony to how badly Fox has screwed itself.
OTOH, I am very much a fan of the Carlson show. No one is better at pointing out the pomposity and inconsistencies of your average Liberal. If in fact he interrupts, it's necessary to get them to quit spouting talking points and explain what they mean.
same here
