Police in Citrus Heights, along with Animal Control, have become involved in the case. They say the two nuns were upset that cats were getting into their garden.
"For lack of a better term, these two ladies were at their wit's end and they just wanted some peace, and if they couldn't move themselves then they might be able to move the other half of the problem, which was the cats," Boehle said.

Don’t blame them a bit if the cats are let go unharmed.
Not necessarily. If there are lot of feral “pet cats” taking over the neighborhood, time to trap them and relocate them.
So, what’s the problem?
We live by a golf course and our neighborhood is full of squirrels. We have one that comes to the olive tree in front of the window of my office to eat every morning. I’ve peeved a few off but never befriended one. Lol
LOL!!!
lol
Why were cats allowed to wander around and root in someone’s garden?
Yuck. Our neighborhood is old and we have large what everyone here calls tree rats. About 3 months ago they got in our attic. They were raising holy heck up there and waking me up at night. Took 2 months for our pest guy to poison them all. We still have poison boxes stationed around our property. We had every tree cut away from the house and every little place on the roof where they may have got in plugged up. It was a real ordeal and cost us some money.
Sounds like you have experience at making animals suffer.
In CA it’s legal to let your cats roam. It’s legal to trap cats in your yard and take them to the pound. It’s not legal to just drive them somewhere else and turn them loose. That’s also cruel. I normally make sure my cat has a collar when he goes outside, but one time one got out and was trapped and turned into the pound. I got him back when they opened (he was chipped) a couple days later.
Where I live, outdoor Cats are usually relocated to the Stomachs of outdoor Coyotes.
They took them away from home and let them go. That’s cruel and just makes them someone else’s problem. It’s legal to trap them and turn them into the pound so their owners can claim them. What they did is illegal.
We did have an idiot neighbor who fed pigeons, or “rats with wings”.
