A royal greeting awaited President Donald Trump Saturday when he touched down in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam and a leading regional power.
King Salman met Trump and first lady Melania on the tarmac, and walked them back to the terminal on a red carpet lined by Saudi military. The party then held a brief ceremony in the terminal before the president's motorcade sped away from the airport.
American and Saudi flags lined the highways of the country's capital Riyadh, along with billboards featuring Trump's face. Trumpets played and jets flew overhead streaming red, white and blue colors.
The fanfare contrasted with the low-key reception offered to former President Barack Obama last year.
On Sunday, Trump is due to address the global Muslim community in what national security adviser H.R. McMaster called an "inspiring, but direct speech on the need to confront radical ideology."
Before leaving the United States Friday, Trump said he would use his trip to protect American interests.

This morning, Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia at the Royal Terminal of King Khalid International Airport. It was an unconventional first stop, as no former president has settled on Saudi Arabia as their primary stop during their first POTUS trip abroad.

We need a list of who’s there for US I can’t keep up. Many CEO and Presidents from US.
I have been watching this all morning, since some would say I don’t have a life.
I have been just so impressed and proud.
This is so much better than to have a transgender POTUS getting up all over the world and tell them how America caused all the problems.
I know the Dems are taking gas as it’s all about a royal and pleasant POTUS visit and NOT about Russia and colluding and that awful, awful Comey guy.
It’s a new day.......
Awwww... NBC news sounds a wee bit wee-weed up.
How long before they accuse the Saudis of being rayciss?! Then the Saudis can accuse NBC of being islamoprobic.
I’ll bet he didn’t bow, either.
I was there from 1987-92. Yes ever since FDR met with King Abdul Aziz (Ibn Saud) on February 15, 1945 on board the U.S.S. Quincy in the Great Bitter Lake of the Suez Canal, we have been allies of the Saudis. ARAMCO built the oil industry that provided the funds to attract US and other international companies. We helped build the Kingdom into a modern state, not out of altruism, but because as Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, "That's where the money is."
Oil is a strategic global and fungible commodity and the Saudis still have the largest reserves of exportable oil. It is in our interests to keep the oil flowing and safe from takeover by radical Islamists.
Dems taking gas......LOL.....good one.
Good to be proud of one’s president.........feels good.
I’m not so sure about that, but more of a man than Zer0, anyway.
Ohhhh .....awesome
....I didn’t make the connection!!!
Encouraging low IQ people to breed like rabbits because of generous welfare benefits is not wise at all.
What ARE you talking about?
“The fanfare contrasted with the low-key reception offered to former President Barack Obama last year.”
Wonder if Obama is a Shiite?
Fortunately, you don’t matter
I've confirmed it's an optical illusion, but it's a good one.
You know, the electronic moustache....huh?
Even here Trump did not bow but lowered his body to receive this great honor...Saudi Arabia King Salman placed the King Abdulaziz al Saud Collar around President Trumps neck on Saturday during a ceremony in the country's capital. The gold medallion is considered the kingdom's highest civilian honor.
