“The activities of one George H.W. Bush on that day are very interesting”

GHW Bush said he couldn’t remember where he was that day. What bull. Anyone over the age of 10 remembers where they were and what they were doing that day.

G. H.W Bush was working in the oil biz and thinking about what it would be like to be elected to the House of Representatives in 1967

I was in Kindergarten that day. The nuns moved other classes into our large double sized room and brought in a tv. I was sitting on the floor around center right of the tv. If a little kindergarten kid can remember details, a grown lying Bush knows darned well remembers.

me
first grade,
Central School,
2nd floor-level grades 1-3,
Lincoln, Illinois,
teacher Mrs. Moore,
principal Mrs Sandleman (pejorative most used to describe her “peg leg”),
time about 1:30pm,
weather sunny,
walls plaster with an institutional light pastel green hue,
floors hardwood,
announcement in person by the principal “The President of the United States has been shot and killed in Dallas, Texas.”
vibe grim
no safe spaces

I was in 6th grade, Des Moines, Washington - Miss Lyon's class (a mean, chain smoking spinster in her 60's who put her lipstick on with a paint roller) when the principal's secretary came in, whispered something in her ear and set up a large desktop radio.
When we realized what had happened, some of the kids starting crying and our teacher scolded them for getting carried away - I guess she voted for Nixon. There was no school the next day.

I had just turned three and remember some events of the day! I was at Mr. and Mrs. Brown's house in there sun porch playing. My mom would drop me off there once a week or so, so that she could run errands without me (I was a handful back then!) I remember my mom and Mrs. Brown being so upset in the other room when my mom got home.

I loved going over there. I would have lunch with Mr. Brown, and we would split a Twinkie package. (We never had store-bought treats in our family).

And then going home and mom, dad and my older siblings all together and could tell that this was something big. I'm thinking they were always in my parent's room, and I think they had a tv in there at the time - or maybe it was just a radio.

IIRC the gap in Nixon's Watergate tapes was right after a comment about him saying something like “And then there's the whole Cuban thing.”

Many of the guys in the group were Cuban, and had been involved with clandestine operations for the failed bay of Pigs thing (when Kennedy backed out at the last minute). I wonder if it was some reference to their involvement with the assassination. Years after I had come to that theory I had read where Haldeman I believe also thinks that.

Not that Nixon was involved in the conspiracy, but that he was trying to protect the image of the United States, like when he tried to keep “The Pentagon Papers”, a report on Johnson's failed Vietnam policies, out of public reach.

I was 10. I remember precisely.

Everyone I’ve met who was five or older remembers that day vividly.

When GHWB told that stunning whopper about Nov. 22, 1963, he should have been forced instantly out of public life.

I was 5 and I remember. They told my kindergarten class that the president had been killed in Texas. I figured he had lost a gunfight. The picture I had in my mind was Kennedy being shot off his horse.

If you ask my dad he would shrug and say he was probably at work, my mom would say the same.

If you ask me where I was when RWR was shot I would say that I didn't have the foggiest.

I think it has something to do with not being glued to the TV.

Right that’s like forgetting where you were at on Septerber 11th, 2001 or Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.
