The Trump administration has fired the White House chief usher — the first woman and second African-American to hold the nonpartisan position, according to a report.
The White House residence staff was told Friday morning that Angella Reid, appointed in 2011 by President Obama, had been canned, without offering an explanation, the Washington Post reported, citing a source.
“We are very grateful for her service and wish her the very best,” a White House official confirmed, declining to provide details.
Reid was only the third usher to be booted in more than a century — and the first since then-first lady Hillary Clinton canned an usher in 1994 for supposed disloyalty.
White House ushers are on duty 24/7, taking care of the first family’s needs and overseeing the staff, including chefs, florists, maids, butlers, chefs, carpenters and other workers who take care of the presidential residence.
The chief usher in particular works closely with the president and his family.
Reid had replaced the first African-American chief usher, Adm. Stephen W. Rochon, after he took a job at the Department of Homeland Security.

It’s not clear that the Trumps are accustomed to so many servants roaming around their home. We know that Trump is a Germaphobe by his own admission. Personally I would only want a couple of house keepers and 2 cooks. Then have a team on call for big events.

Trump is the president and is the one who would be consulted before someone else fired her. The first lady would also have the next most influence. So, yes, Trump is responsible.
You have the staff you need. A new usher will be hired, so it is not the size of the staff. Do you really really really really really think Trump spends his time thinking about how many workers are in the White House to clean and scrub? If he does, we have the wrong person in the White House.

The position was created in 1891. It is the “head of household operations”, a task that prior to then was carried out by the First Lady.
Sounds like waste to me.

Why not? Black people need to be brought into the American culture as normal people after years of President Buckwheat trying to make them special. Firing Angela makes her as normal as a white person getting fired.

When you quote someone, it is quite crass to leave out the key phrase in their comment to change the entire statement.
