House GOP leaders are expressing confidence that the Republican-sponsored American Health Care Act (AHCA) to repeal and replace Obamacare will pass Thursday afternoon, though it will face an uncertain path in the Senate.
"This will pass," House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-California, told reporters as he left a closed-door meeting with the House Republican Conference. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, also seemed confident that the bill would pass.

I think it passes with room to spare. After last time House Republicans will be desperate not to be seen fumbling the ball again, so they’ll hand it off to the Senate and make like they’ve done a hard day’s work.
Lifenews says Planned Parenthood would be defunded which is what a lot of us are waiting for.
I understand that everyone has their priorities, however, there has not been an administration as pro-life as this one. Everyone should pray that Satan, Klanned Parenthood, is defunded.
It will either die in the Senate or come back much worse.
Yeah. A lot of Repubs were hung up about that. So they added this....
FTA... The White House and House Republicans have been wrangling over the bill and finally agreed to add billions of dollars in funding to the bill, persuading moderate Republicans to shift their votes from "no" to "yes." Moderate Rep. Fred Upton added $8 billion over five years to the bill -- moderates wanted the additional funding to help Americans with pre-existing conditions afford their insurance premiums. The MacArthur Amendment would give states $100 billion over the next decade to help with high-risk pools
I’m a healthcare attorney. I honestly don’t have the first clue what is in this bill.
I was able to get a sense of what the last ACHA did, but this is a rush job of just epic proportions.
Yep, and every single thing going forward relating to anything wrong with healthcare in general will be labled "trumpcare" and be blamed on the GOP.
Y’all lost that fight in 1964 / 1965, sorry.
They will give us a Ryancare, it will thrill the insurance industry, premiums and deductibles will never come down a thin dime, and the GOP congress will never return to the issue again.
Screw Ryan. Obamacare will never be repealed.
It also includes language that prohibits federal funding for "essential community providers," like Planned Parenthood.God only knows what THAT really means.
I absolutely will vote 3rd party after a lifetime of voting Republican. i can’t tolerate what ends of being more of the same no matter who is in office.
“I doubt President Trump knows more than a 2-sentence summary of what this thing does.”
It’s going to be really really great. It will be the best healthcare plan you’ve ever seen. It’ll be just wonderful.
SHUT UP you must be an anti- Trumper Cruz Stooge that should be zotted! I know the primaries are over but you’re still a Cruz stooge. Forget the fact I’m the only one that keeps bringing the primaries back into this! Can’t you tell he is playing 4 dimensional multifaceted extraterrestrial chess that you just don’t get understand! /s
Balderdash. That particular outcome would be the worst of all for the GOP.
The whole reason the GOP didn't pass an outright repeal is because of the vulnerability which it exposed them to...
Well we didn’t vote for djt to just get leftist communistic statist dictatorial Obama care all over again just wrapped up in a RINO wrapper
I wonder if Betsy McCoughey has read it.
She’s the 0Care expert who DID read that bill before it was deemed.
She seems ecstatic over this bill (or did, recently, on FoxBiz).
Isn’t there supposed to be a three day posting of the bill, for folks to read, prior to passing?
Hi there! I remember you too! I know, I keep beating my drum but I find it a little odd that they haven’t seen the bill, it hasn’t been scored and they’re voting on it anyway. It’s how Obamacare got passed but hopefully this time it will actually benefit more than just the insurance companies and big hospitals. I live in the suburbs of Cleveland and the Cleveland Clinic has grown into a monster in the past decade. They have gobbled up all of the private hospitals in the city and are doing lots of building overseas. Why does the Cleveland Clinic have so much money they are building facilities in Dubai? Shouldn’t that money go towards lowering the cost of healthcare???? As someone who struggles with M.S. I can tell you 100% that care is no longer patient centered ( it’s been that way for a while but nothing compared to what is happening now. It is profit driven, nothing more. Sorry for the rant. This just means a lot to me. What has been going on is nothing short of abuse.
Most people are stupid but I don’t think that fear mongering will stick. Coverage not denied. Coverage at higher rate due to risk but subsidised
If rates go up that is another story.
At least Insurance companies come back to market place.
Anyone have an idea when the vote will start?
Probably wont get 51 if there is no 60 vote requirement.
BTW : Does anyone know what this bill says?
1) Trump promised repeal and replace. Not repeal only. You don’t like it? Tough.
2) You guys who demand no involvement of govt in healthcare . . . go get your guns and start shooting people because you’re angry about Medicare. If you’re not angry about Medicare and willing to fight for your principle, you are a hypocrite.
3) If you acquiesce to Medicare but object to govt involvement for people less than 65 yrs old, you’re just age discriminating.
4) Iowa will nave ZERO insurance next year if something isn’t done. Those people voted for Trump. Would you have him backstab them?
5) This isn’t 1970. The costs have exploded. They didn’t explode because of non conservative this or that in healthcare. They exploded because of completely non ideological reasons. There is no choice.
The bill needs 51 votes in the Senate.
