SOUTH ORANGE -- Police plan to boost patrols after officers from several departments were needed to disperse at least 300 young people who gathered in downtown South Orange late Saturday, sparking fights and blocking traffic.
South Orange Police Chief Kyle Kroll said Tuesday the crowd contained a mix of village teens and others from nearby communities, including Newark, East Orange and Irvington residents, who apparently arrived by public transportation.
The unruly crowd formed around 8 p.m. and kept officers busy until around midnight, according to police. Kroll said he requested assistance from the Essex County Sheriff's Office, Maplewood and Orange police as altercations broke out among the throngs of teens and young adults.

A lot of South Orange itself also went downhill. East Orange was once a vibrant lower income working Italian neighborhood. It is now an urban hell hole. Believe it or not East Orange was once called The Fifth Avenue of New Jersey.
West Orange and South Orange also have a lot of hurt in them. East Orange is the worst but the others certainly are not what they once were. South Orange Village used to be a great place.
If the cops made use of those batons they carry they wouldn’t need outside help from other departments.
Liberal bullies have learned the police state can’t do squat against mobs, because they cannot identify or arrest everyone.
Safety in numbers for the criminals, dangerous for society unless the state starts dispersing them through gunfire.
You ever see those Planet Earth shows about the oceans? They need to treat rioters and mobs like the dolphins and sailfish treat the bait balls. And yes, that goes for the antifa fascists as well. Encircle them and pick them off a few at a time until there are none left. But I’m thinking the police are going to need a whole lot more paddy wagons and jail-style buses to transport them all from their rioting grounds to the jails once the roundup is complete.
That's known as Montclair..
Montclair, Glen Ridge, and Bloomfield are suburban havens.

they are going to have to eventually do something because normal people do not want to live in areas where tribal warfare is a possibility....
Friends lived in the section of Bloomfield where the Parkway crosses over Bloomfield Ave; they’d bought a HUD home, and sold it as soon as the 5 years required of them to live there were up. While their home and block were nice, they were just a couple of blocks from the spread of Newark; you couldn’t go out at night.
The north end of Bloomfield is very nice!
Essex County taxes are killer; productive areas are heavily taxed to support the ghettoes (where property taxes seem unchanged since the collapse 50 years ago). Any time tax increases in the ‘hoods are mentioned, the mayors rally against them saying they’ll hinder any “recovery” - which never happens anyway.
Not even going to read beyond the headline.
