President Trump on Tuesday called for a "good shutdown" in September to fix the "mess in government.
"The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We
either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good "shutdown" in September to fix mess!" he wrote in a series of tweets.

Call him at (202) 225-0600 and listen to his message. To leave a message you have to listen to a list of 5 topics. Press number 6 to leave a message.
Numbers 1-5 are topics this damn fool thinks we care what he thinks, i.e. what he thinks about national security, the constitution, the size of government, health care, etc. This bastard is delusional! Ryan thinks he is POTUS!
RYAN HAS TO GO!
I have a rule against trusting the NYTimes on political matters. They can twist around an interview to fit their agenda as well as anything else.
YES!!!
A SHUTDOWN BEFORE A MELTDOWN.
Keep “essential services” going, but most of the feds are unconstitutional and nonessential and would do us a world of good by shutting down and NEVER COMING BACK!
I am totally down with that
Right, a temporary expenditure to keep government afloat to September. Thanks.
I feel your pain
I don’t think Trump is anyone’s puppet.
How is a temporary spending bill to keep government afloat to September the end of everything, or as you call it “capitulation?
SMH, I can’t grasp this all or nothing thought process by some folks. Sorry.
The is the beginning of the end for business as usual.
President Trump has to take on the entire UniParty, the media, the academics, all the major institutions.
Sounds like some think he can wave a magic wand, stomp his fee and make them go away. He can’t.
Not if he wants to push through the major bills on ObamaCare and Tax Reform.
Another hill not to die on, eh?
Stars still not quite right?
A lot of guys go through life looking for excuses not to fight for what they know is right.
Candidate Trump told us he was different. How many times did we see that US Grant meme: “He fights!”
There’s a reason the executive has a veto power.
But he signs and says, “We’ll get `em next time!”
And we have all you guys still saying, “He’s playing 3,928 level chess.”
Back in reality, the wall just became a fence, and ten feet lower or three strands of barb wire, and illegals start planning renewing their journeys north.
The `rats got their X-mas list: Planned Infanticide, their conservative-hating public news organs re-financed, et al; IOW, it’s as if Hillary won and they own Congress.
Well at least you articulated some thoughts on why you think this leads to more problems. While I don’t share your assessment, we won’t have long to wait as September if around the corner.
But then I just heard that President Trump tweeted today that the government needs a “good shutdown” in September.
He’s not changed or changing. He’s up for a budget fight. This was not the time or it. This was handling the bad end of a bad stick and moving toward the front.
yes! :)
Yup, getting the han gov it. :-)
I don't think he has any idea how much of his core support apathetically pulls away.
Its this type of crap we sent him there to stop.
It was Cromnibus that sent me over the edge last time I left the party and started posting here again in earnest against the Uniparty.
I think I might be close to the border of the reservation here - taxes, daca, obamacare, this, the wall, not standing up to the tyrannical courts.
President Trump is going to lose his core support and the republicans will lose in 2018 and he will be impeached.
I'm not seeing the president fighting like I expected heck I don't need fighting straight up intransigence against these thieves.
This a Democrat budget - why is that the default when we win. Signing this is political suicide
I agree but that ain’t giving him much competition :)
I like him. I think he’s learning some things the hard way and realizes his daughter is of a different persuasion when it comes to politics and they have to part ways at least in this arena.
You can speak it, say “veto” as many times as you like. Such an action would end the chance at moving any agenda.
Let the Obama nightmare end so the agenda of the President can move forward.
Why not NOW, Mr. President? I am sick of kicking cans made of platinum down the road.
Exactly right.
The repeal of the ACA is the object lesson here. When they knew it wouldn't happen they all voted for repeal.
Same here. Senators talk about supporting DJT's agenda but if the filibuster is gone and they're shooting with live ammo it won't even be close.
