Democrats believe they have set the stage to block President Trumps legislative priorities for years to come by winning major concessions in a spending bill to keep the government open.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) secured nearly $5 billion in new domestic spending by exploiting disagreements between President Trump and GOP lawmakers over spending priorities.
Democrats lopsided victory on the five-month deal, which is likely to be approved this week, means it will be very difficult if not impossible for the GOP to exert its will in future budget negotiations, including when it comes to Trumps 2018 budget blueprint.

The Republicans could hold 400 seats in the House, and 90 seats in the Senate, and they would still allow the Democrats to control the agenda.
“If there was funding for the wall someone from the administration would at least mention it..... NOTHING Trump wanted is in the CR EVERYTHING the Rats wanted is. Disgusting traitors all of em.”
Damn, how many times does it have to be said on the same thread? President Trump got what he set up for; a big chunk of the $54 billion for the military and money for fence repairs and tech upgrades..it’s money that had to be spent anyway.
Sorry for you Always Trumpers, but your man is already proving to have clay feet. He sided with the big government GOP-e by backing the Obamacare sellout and attacking conservatives, now he’s afraid to push them to the wall - pardon the pun - over the first spending bill that gets to his desk. His small victories will be pyrrich if he doesn’t build the wall and drain the swamp. His enemies foreign and domestic are emboldened by these victories because Trump is proving he will blink. Politicians always disappoint and, sadly, Trump is just another politician. 1000% better than Hildabeast but 50% of who we hoped he would be. And that hope was based on his own increasingly hollow rhetoric.
“At that point, I think Trump should threaten to shut down the government and let the rinos know, he isnt covering for their relection.”
Yup...I saw that he is running an ad in many states talking about his first 100 days. I expect him to bombard those blue states he won and any red state Rinos with an ad campaign to push his first real budget.
If Trump signs his support base will evaporate. He will be seen as either weak (caving to the Democrats) or as a con man who broke most of his major campaign promises. Either way come sept he will not have the political capital to take on the GOPe and the Rats. He’ll effectively be a lame duck president in his first year of office.
Millions of disillusioned voters will stay home in 2018 and the Rats will win control the House and the Senate. Like it or not the battle is now and it’s looks like we are going to lose and lose big.
Hope I am wrong but I see this rather clearly.
The only real wild card that could change everything is NK. How that goes I haven’t a clue.
Millions of disillusioned voters will stay home in 2018 and the Rats will win control the House and the Senate. Millions of disillusioned voters will stay home in 2018 and the Rats will win control the House and the Senate.
They do now.
Don’t sweat it. I don’t have to be in until 8 AM. I’ll have one for you.
Cheers!
I played a helluva lot of football in my life, and occasionally I'd hear” We will get them next time boys.”
How will Team Trump get them next time when they have maybe 5-10 players in a 535 member game?
The delusions run strong by many here.
I strongly support Trump and did from the start. i also know he has no clue about government. Businessmen never do.
“sadly, Trump is just another politician. ..but 50% of who we hoped he would be. And that hope was based on his own increasingly hollow rhetoric.”
I’m really mad he hasn’t cured cancer yet! Hell, he’s been in office for 100 days. How come that wall isn’t built yet?? An awful lot of spoiled brats around here!!
There is no doubt, none, that Trump will sign this.
Again, Trump is definitely going to sign.
Here’s what Pence said today:
I think this mornings announcement about reaching a bipartisan deal on the budget says that the American people can be encouraged that Washington is working again, thanks to the strong leadership of President Donald Trump.
Zero ambiguity there. In fact, Trump apparently sees this as a big win!
“Hell effectively be a lame duck president in his first year of office.”
You really have that MSM narrative down pat, don’t you??
LOL, my mistake, thanks for the correction.
Feel free to tell me where my analysis is faulty.
We now return you to our regular program of government spending.
An awful lot of gushing schoolgirls who won’t call a spade a spade. You can’t build the wall if you don’t start. Handing America’s enemies two major victories in 100 days is a fact that cannot be denied. If you’re waiting for Captain America to suddenly emerge in the White House he’s going to break your heart. Trump is a compromising deal maker. He’s not now and has never been a conservative.
Well he is still 1000x better then Hillary. Let just pray Sessions stay healthy and that Trump SC pick is really a conservative. We need at least one more pick before Rats take control of the Senate.
He could start by putting in a guy like Duterte as Attorney General instead of that fossil whos busy recusing himself.
Why are the people who hacked Sharyl Atkissons computer not arrested yet?
“President Trump got what he set up for”’
Yeah that’s why Scmuckee and Pelosi are giddy with thier smug statements.
He vetoed it? Where did you read that?
