The sedative midazolam is supposed to prevent condemned prisoners from suffering while they die, but opponents say several problematic executions involving the drug are evidence that it does not work consistently. They raised new concerns after an execution Thursday in Arkansas left the prisoner convulsing and pressing against his restraints.

Why are “assisted suicides” purported to be painless and peaceful, while lethal-injection executions too often result in the condemned writhing in agony on the gurney?
prevent condemned prisoners from suffering while they die,
another liberal do good program. The murderers had no remorse or compassion when they killed thier victims nd the rats continue to kill the innocent in the womb
Not ‘sticking up for them’ but by the time all the appeals are spent, and the guy has spent 20 or 30 years on death row, he has probably ‘forgot’ while he was there.
Of course giving him hormones, sex change operations, treating him for ANY life ending disease sort of seems foolish.
My biggest ‘worry’ would be they wouldn’t allow one to have a greasy hamburger or salty fries or some cholesterol loaded food for the last meal.
gasping and snorting
if McGuire was experiencing pain.
But it was clearly one of the most unorthodox-looking executions in state history
Did the murder victim convulse and struggle for her/his life?
Did the murder victim gasp and snort?
Was there a sanctimonious AP reporter safely ensconced at the scene of the victim's murder to witness whether the victim was experiencing pain?
Did the AP have an opinion whether the victim's murder was unorthodox or just plain and unremarkable?
All of the local stations, the protesters against the death penalty, and the rest of the Hypocrites, were all just so concerned about any pain and suffering these people might feel being executed.
Last December for three weeks I watched my father die in the Hospice program. I have reflected a great deal of what I witnessed and what I felt. I came to the conclusion that Hospice, at best was assisted suicide, at it's worst some sort of murder. Even worse the process of the drugs, coupled with withdrawing liquids, food, etc., and you have a horrible painful death.
Yet I hear next to nothing from these same people who worried about those Animals being executed and if they suffered.
Have we, as a society, just turned our backs the Judeo-Christian Ethical and Morals lessons we should adhere by? I guess the answer to a degree is yes.
Well as Doc Holliday said to Wyatt Earp, “My Hypocrisy only goes so far”!
Here's an an old song I like.
“I only care if dogs suffer.”
When my pets have had to be put down, it was gentle and quiet and peaceful. It can be done with humans. Don’t give the bleeding hearts reason to fight the death penalty.
I didn’t.
I simply spoke the truth.
That’s what I care about.
Should just withhold food and water from the condemned. It was such a dignified way for Terri Schiavo to die.
Thesr LIB idiots complain about everything and anything. The bum should have been eased into a wood chipper. Dead is dead.
Is going not are going.
The particular med you just go to sleep, it’s what most Anthologist use for surgery, to much you don’t wake up. The supposed ‘seizure was a staged event’ to cast doubt on the drug. If not staged, then you can blame it on the HUGE meal they consumed. Surgery patients are FASTING patients.
Bet the next surgery patient has no issue with it.
ARRGH! Kill me now!
A rope or a bullet would solve all these problems....this is what we get by trying to be humane....
