An Army veteran was thrown behind bars Tuesday for allegedly tying her PTSD therapy dog to a tree and shooting him five times at close range killing the poor pup for no apparent reason while a soldier filmed it.
...
Court documents obtained by the Fayetteville Observer describe how she teamed up with her boyfriend, Jarren Heng, 25, for the seemingly random killing earlier this month.
The couple allegedly led the white and gray pit bull to a wooded area before tying him to a tree and taking his life. ... ultimately was shot five times with a rifle as Rollins and Heng, who is still enlisted and stationed at Fort Bragg, took turns filming him.
Let me hit him once, Heng can be heard saying in the video.
Throughout the disturbing clip, he and Rollins both laugh and joke about the dogs brutal death ...

Have you ever read the exhaustive list of logical fallacies, commonly used in arguments?
You should.
We’re seeing a lot of them, today.
Fascinating, really.
“No you idiot”
Good one.
“I read the article and based on that it was easy to determine”
That’s what everyone thinks who is easily convinced.
“these were a couple of violent sadistic dings. It turns out I was 100% correct. No?”
No. It looks to me like she developed mental illness. That, apparently, led to her striking out at her estranged husband by destroying his property.
Despite the best efforts of Disney’s talking animals, there are still many who draw a clear line between animal and human.
Line between homo sapiens and other animals, sure. Even on non theological grounds, our brains make us qualitatively different in many ways...
But any person who causes an animal to suffer needlessly is a piece of s**t who should be put down for the good of society.
“But any person who causes an animal to suffer needlessly is a piece of s**t”
I have read two accounts of this: in one, the dog suffered; in the other, it did not. Have you established needless suffering?
“who should be put down for the good of society.”
I don’t think you’ll find much support among normal people for making animal cruelty a capital crime.
My middle daughter arrived here from her home in NV with her Chihuahua in hand. She could keep it no longer, she said, and unless I took it she was going to take it to the pound.
I don’t like small dogs. I have always disliked Chihuahuas in particular. I did not want a Chihuahua. I wanted a German Shepherd. I prayed for a German Shepherd, and set aside $500 for a pup. That was not enough money.
I wanted a German Shepherd, and God sent me a Chihuahua. God be dissin’ me. To add insult to injury, the dog’s name is “Cali” after California.
Cali decided that she is my youngest daughter’s dog. She has had medical problems twice, and twice I paid to take her to the vet. She is happy and healthy.
All that is by way of telling you that I am not some puppy-drowning Grinch who advocates cruelty to animals. I once drove from Miura to Yokohama in the middle of the night because a kitten had had its leg traumatically amputated by an automobile, and needed to be put down. I paid for that, too, because I could not sleep knowing that the kitten was suffering.
I take no particular joy in hunting, either, but there is a place for all God’s creatures: right next to the mashed potatoes. I do take particular pleasure in tenderloin of venison with mustard sauce and a Beaujolais Nouveau.
I think my opinions are the traditional ones.
Hey there; I have a pit bull (along with six other breeds) and BILLY is a loving pussycat.
The only danger from BILLY is he might lick and slobber you to death.
But I do find it quite predictable when an individual will attempt to cherry pick a word out of an exchange and run with that. It's weak, deceitful and evasive. It's been amazing but not surprising watching several here twist into knots attempting to obfuscate their way out of this.
Fascinating? Yep, but still fairly routine and common when it comes to human nature.
Even veterans can be FREAKAZOIDS.
Just like the general population.
KILL HER AND HER BOYFREAK befor they multiply.
Can you read? Are you mentally ill? I was 100% correct here along with the majority of other posters. For the 5th time, try reading the thread Fred.
The veteran part had zip to do with this these people, except for the fact if either are active duty, they should be discharged for the good of all.
NO; do society a favor and just tie them to a tree and kill them.
“I was 100% correct here along with the majority of other posters.”
Correct about what? That they shouldn’t have shot the dog? Nobody disputes that.
That they are the worst people ever to live? That remains to be established.
The enormity of your self-regard, on the other hand, has been made abundantly clear.
Correct about what? Gezzuz, for the 6th time, read the thread slick and you’ll answer your own question. Wowza.
“Correct about what? Gezzuz, for the 6th time, read the thread slick and youll answer your own question.”
Not good enough. All I have seen you do is assume that which remains to be demonstrated, then strut about crapping all over the chessboard.
I hereby accept the futility of trying to discuss this with you.
Bye.

If ya think I’m going to read this thread to you, or walk you through it, think again. All the words are very clear, go read them before making yourself appear even more ignorant.
I think that the schizophrenia is usually already there but at a level where it isn’t interfering with daily life. Once the drug use begins the lid gets blown off and it looks like the drugs caused the disease. But who knows, really.
The shooting was certainly planned and depraved, but it also looks like she didn’t have any sort of reason for doing it. The senselessness of it makes me suspect that it’s craziness acting itself out.
It appears she is in a divorce deal and she and her boyfriend were motivated by hate and spite for her husband, to kill the dog in an effort to, “Get back at him” or “Pay him back”. It was apparently the husbands dog.
It’s why they were drinking and were photographed with bottle of alcohol and were smiling and laughing. Sick sick.
I didn’t opine on the facts, as I wasn’t there.
I don’t give a fig if you, or anyone else does not think that animal cruelty should be a capital crime, or if you, or anyone else think me ‘normal’. And please, hunting and eating meat is a strawman.
The sort of individual who would cause an animal to suffer needlessly is no more of a human being in my book than a burglar, rapist or carjacker, they need to be executed swiftly because it is only a matter of time until they harm a human.
The ex says that he thought he had a decent platonic relationship with her- if there was any anger or hatred on her part he wasn’t aware of it at all. That was one reason he approached her about taking the dog.
So while it may turn out to be the motive the revenge killing looks bizarre, like it came out of nowhere. As does her claiming it was her “therapy dog” when that was easily disprovable, and the renaming of the dog, and denying it had ever been her ex’s dog. And deciding to kill it when she could have turned it loose or in to the pound. Everything she did regarding the dog has a crazy feel to it.
Someone upthread suggested that it could be bipolar behavior rather than schizophrenia since that would fit the planning and reasoning ability. I’m not trying to make an excuse for her, just trying to figure out what was going on from the information we have.
