The EMP Threat From North Korea Is Real, and Terrifying
pjmedia.com ^ | 4/25/2017 | John R. Moore

While the total wipeout depicted in One Second After is probably exaggerated, the effects could knock out our power grid for months, and destroy critical communications and computer systems. As former CIA chief James Woolsey recently said:

If you look at the electric grid and what it's susceptible to, we would be moving into a world with no food delivery, no water purification, no banking, no telecommunications, no medicine. All of these things depend on electricity in one way or another.

In such a situation, there simply is no way to rule out the possibility that hundreds of millions could die.

Except for those two satellites that NK has launched that traverse the United States every day or so.
They probably are nothing but bowling balls....today.

"Please explain that one. I never heard of a smokeless fire before."

Then you obviously don't have a propane stove. Creates no visible smoke from outdoors.

>>>he threat is somewhat overrated: you need H-bombs to make an effective EMP weapon. I don’t believe NK has them yet.

Exactly. You need a large yield weapon to produce a large EMP...and he's not there. If left unchecked...he will be...but it's probably a ways off.

Sailing the fleet in the ocean with no real purpose is a danger also.

So you are planning on using a propane stove inside your home? Not the wisest move.

Geez, man, just get a damned filter. Besides, the propane will run out, even forgetting the (rather dangerous) fumes. Many filters are good for thousands of gallons.

Be careful how you store that stuff. Glass jar, plastic lid. Bad out-gassing and corrosion issues.

Tell me how large they are and what you think can be launched from them

CT is far and away too arrogant and agenda driven to be ashamed of its ignorance. Don’t let the slug pull you off topic to slog in its slime trail.

No, of course not. I used it as an excuse to post links to actual authoritative research that everyone who is interested in learning the topic can reference.

I hope he learns something.

Probably nothing can be launched from them. Actually an EMP device is not launched, it is detonated in orbit.
The point is, NK has the capability to put a device in orbit in just the right spot to do the deed.

And there are certain conceptual weapons that have had work down on them that would be fired from a satellite. Those don’t exist yet

Number one question are they nuclear armed? Most likely not, they are more likely to be data gathering satellites.

Number two, their is not currently in existence any microwave device that can produce an EMP.

Number three this guy wants us to spend money to harden against EMP. I have no problem with that. Dog and pony shows before congress paint extreme pictures to get money
