Dems may oppose the wall, but if GOP wanted it, couldn't they fund it? They don't want it, right?

Sorry for the vanity, but I'm confused about the posts blaming Dems for blocking funding for the wall. The GOP is still in control of Congress, or was there an election that I missed?

I hate to brag but the Wall Bond thing was my idea.

Kudos to you. It has a nice ring to it. I'd be ecstatic on many levels if it was implemented.

It’s maddening to see all the FReepers who still think that the whole National level Democrat vs. Republican charade is worth paying attention to.

No budget for eight friggin’ years. Every one of those years with a built in Porkulus FU to the taxpayer. R’s did nothing.

Homosexual marriage? Big yawn from the Republican party.

Obozo care fully funded? No problem, said the Republican House and Senate.

The DC Republicans don’t want a wall. They want cheap labor for the big donors.

They don’t want to get rid of Obozocare. For eight years they’ve voted against it when they knew it was pointless, and then they say they can’t get rid of it now? They piss on us and tell us it’s raining, and we thank them for the forecast.

They do make a nice noise and say nice words to stay in office, but they actually do squat or support the rigged system behind the scenes.

Look at all the lawbreakers that Issa and Gowdy have put in jail! Can’t name any? It’s OK, because there are so many awesome YouTube vids of Gowdy “destroying” whoever. He’s a carnival barker, a pressure relief valve to keep us yokels from boiling over. In other words, he’s GOP.

Just wait for the actually budget battle. Republicans will be screaming for more spending and fight tooth and nail against actual cuts. They’ll make a show out of defunding PBS and some other sound bite projects but they’ll put the money right back in someplace else.

The National GOP hates the average FReeper, works against our beliefs and interests night and day, and like the victims of years of physical abuse, we keep coming back because “this time they really have changed, they really mean it, and the Dems are bad”.

I’d rather have a Commie Dem Rat in office that at least is more or less up front about expanding Fedzilla than a Republican Elmer Gantry.

To Hell with the National GOP and those who support it in it’s current form.

Another idea I had was if Wall Bonds are actually sold then we could have public bond burning parties. We could put them on Youtube. That would tell the world that we don’t want to be repaid just build the wall! That would eat the Globalists, Leftists and RINOs alive!

The Government can raise money by selling bonds, but can't spend that money without Congressional authorization. (U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 9: "No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law").

Gopes don’t want it. The Chamber of Commerce opposes the wall therefore ergo and QED, Gopes oppose it.

That would be silly for Republicans. Most of them want the Democrats to prevail.

Build an interstate from Brownsville Texas to the Pacific Ocean. Build it in top of a wall along the border and just get the funds from the department of transportation.

Heck, there aren’t even enough votes to get to 50.

Not unless we, pardon the crudity, put some serious balls into serious vises.

What I find most vexing is the fact that there are so many people blaming President Trump when it’s the GOP Congress that’s sabotaging us every time.

A smart, powerful Speaker can twist arms - even the opposite party’s, to get what he wants.

Ryan is both stupid and UNwilling to help Trump if he could.
The head of the House Appropriations Committee is now Rodney Frelinghuysen of New Jersey. Check this liberal sot’s voting record out in conservative monitoring sites.

Those are two explanations.

Ryan and company want to cater to the Dims - it furthers the GOPe agenda to thwart Trump and continue as if the Dims were in charge. If McConnell hadn't had the balls to ensure Gorsuch was appointed, things would be looking bleak indeed.

Too many concern trolls trying to fault Trump for the fickleness of the GOPe.

This is still another reason to move the House and Senate to their home districts. They can legislate by Internet. They will find it hard to ignore constituents outside the door with torches and pitchforks.

When did Congress fund payments to Iran? I don’t remember a vote on this, but maybe I missed it!

Dems don’t have to pass legislation or make a budget, they just spend it wherever and whenever they feel the urge.
