New Orleans officials removed the first of four prominent Confederate monuments early Monday, the latest Southern institution to sever itself from symbols viewed by many as a representation racism and white supremacy.
The first memorial to come down was the Liberty Monument, an 1891 obelisk honoring the Crescent City White League.
Workers arrived to begin removing the statue, which commemorates whites who tried to topple a biracial post-Civil War government in New Orleans, around 1:25 a.m. in an attempt to avoid disruption from supporters who want the monuments to stay, some of whom city officials said have made death threats.

Hopefully Landrieu won’t be around for that. 70% of the people were against removing our history. That didn’t stop Landrieu and his future ambitions. He is a lousy Mayor and he is as liberal as his useless sister Mary. I hope the city of New Orleans will make him pay politically. But I have a feeling old mitch has bigger plans in DC. In New Orleans black and whites get along for the most part. We party together in Jackson Square and never once in my lifetime have I ever heard a black say they were offended by our statues. mich took lessons in fracturing peace and promoting hatred and rasism from Obama. When I lived in the vicinity and worked in NOLA, seldom were there any issues between the races. Lots of years there between ‘68 to ‘87 so yeah, I saw a lot of changes over those years.
We have all been taught this, but an examination of the facts reveal that nobody invaded the South to free the slaves. They invaded the South to "Preserve the Union." 18 months after the war had began is when they started talking about freeing slaves, but only those slaves in the states held to be in "rebellion."
There was no talk of freeing the slaves in the five slave states that remained loyal to the Union.
The war was not began to free slaves. It was began to stop the Southern states from becoming independent of Washington D.C.

The American Civil War ended in 1865. April 9, 1865. In Kentucky, slavery legally ended on December 18, 1865, when the 13th Amendment went into effect.

Slavery lasted 8 months longer in the Union than it did in the Confederacy.

One more step on the transition of our culture from the great melting pot to racial and ethnic tribalism. Concurrent with the ascendance of globalism over nationalism.
We are being driven into a global society where our identity in the global community is defined by tribe, not country of origin. Dominant tribes will define standards of behavior and determine the acceptable history and symbolism.
Genocide and slavery are characteristics of societies where identity is defined by tribal group. Look at the centuries old conflict between Shia and Sunni Muslims. Look at the deadly struggles in Europe between Catholics and Protestants. Witness the near extermination of Native Americans by Caucasian invaders from Europe. Slavery in the southern United States is another manifestation of tribalism.
It is ironic that the elites championing multiculturalism are intent on destroying the pluralistic society which began developing during the 19th century in the United States and had the potential to be fully realized in the last quarter of the 20th Century had the initial concept of the Civil Rights Movement, a color blind society, been achieved. Instead, the thought leaders of society embraced a segregated multicultural and anti-white society while politicians hyped racial and ethnic divisions.
The end game of our current path will be descent into another dark age where history and civilization will be lost and tribes will battle each other until one achieves dominance.
I live in NJ. Two of my brothers went to a small Catholic college in North Carolina back in the ‘70’s and early ‘80s, a little called Belmont Abbey outside of Charlotte. It was there that they learned the only thing that ever ended concerning The Civil War was the shooting.

The North fought to preserve the Union and won. The South went to war to preserve slavery and lost everything. Don’t you ever get tired of being an idiot?

The North fought because Abraham Lincoln ordered them to fight. Lincoln ordered them to fight because an independent South represented a huge financial threat to his government and the financial interests of his New England/New York backers.
The money tells the truth. You can keep repeating your claims of some great moral crusade, but the real and demonstrable truth is MONEY. Greed was the cause of that war.
