As Fox News continues to reel from the summary dismissal of its top star Bill O'Reilly this week and its creator, Roger Ailes earlier this year, a lot of attention has been given to women who worked there and whether they experienced any sort of harassment.
There was a very interesting exchange between Jake Tapper and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin during his interview with her on The Lead Thursday. Tapper asked, directly, what she experienced during her time working there as a commentator.
Palin, who left the network in June of 2015, didn't elaborate about her personal experiences, but she did say the Fox News culture needed to change.
She said she'd never put up with any sort of harassment. When Tapper asked if that's why she left, she said, "You can ask them why I'm no longer with Fox. You know, I'm not - I'm not going to speak for them. My contract wasn't renewed, that's the line." It doesn't take much online research to find evidence of questionable comments by Fox News executives and personalities aimed at Palin.
There was the time in 2010 when Don Imus of Fox Business asked Fox News Chris Wallace about an upcoming interview.
"When you interview her, will she be sitting on your lap?" asked a laughing Imus.
"One can only hope," said a laughing Chris Wallace.
Or, there are the comments of Roger Ailes, the Fox News godfather, who used this language in 2011 to describe why he brought her to the network: "I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings."

More times than not, no lawsuit is involved but it is the threat of a lawsuit or a firing that shuts up most men very fast.
You see, this is all about power, not sex. Women want the power to discard any man at the office they believe is a big enough jerk and you can take plenty of out-of-context comments and make them *appear* to be harassment. How does a man tell an African-American secretary that he wants his coffee black without it sounding like possible harassment? At one of my favorite restaurants, I subjected a waitress to some giggles when I asked innocently enough if she wanted to eat the pickle that came with the sandwich. She was flattered that I invited her to eat my pickle.
I didn’t know Chris Wallace was born with anything in his lap area.
Heck, hitting on someone not in your immediate employ or supervision is not HARRASSMENT either. (However, asking for personal alone time from your employee is definitely implicit harrassment, as she may feel it is a condition of her job to go, when it should not be.)
There is a clear procedure that companies should follow if they want to avoid such threats. The vast majority of women of course have no interest in pursuing suits even if justified. But I can certainly see why men are afraid of it. I think they can generally tell friend or foe and how caeeful they have to be with someine.
I'm a woman, and I get nervous having to say that at the McDonald's.
Who really cares. Sarah can take care of the situation and if it keeps on, she can move to another venue or her husband can
take care of it. This is garbage.
Sarah’s too good for FOX.
But she would be a breath of fresh air to the Trump administration. C’mon Donald = let’s get some women with brains in your inner circle!
I don’t see very many talking the talk of liberty, save Steve Bannon.
Michelle Bachmann should be right in there as well.
Back during the Campaign Michele and Sarah both brought immense credibility to his campaign for wary conservatives.
They both have had his back. He is lucky to have them.
Thanks for that. He points out what I’ve already known that in New York and much of the Northeast, the f-bombs are spoken so frequently, they are like “you know” in other parts of the country. So, naturally, the women do it too. Although on-air personalities (I was one many decades ago), you try to scrub the words out of your vocabulary for fear it might spill out on the air.
When Ted Cruz made his “New York values” comment, I believe this was the sort of thing he meant. Were I him, I would have pointed out that the NY governor claims Republicans are “not welcome” in his state but he’s never said any such thing about NAMBLA which is headquartered in New York. Instead of explaining what he meant, Cruz just walked it back which was a big mistake. No way he was winning New York anyway but he would have solidified his standing with many social conservatives if he had stuck to his guns.
THAT IS NOT SEXUAL HARASSMENT!
It maybe be a stupid joke, but the real stupidity was being interviewed by Don Imus. And as for being hot and getting ratings... duh.
