McCain Foods USA's recall notice on the US Food & Drug Administration site says the hash browns could be "contaminated with extraneous golf ball materials" that "may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make this product."
"Consumption of these products may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury to the mouth," says the notice of the voluntary recall.
There have been no reported injuries, according to the company.

I bought a couple bags of these, but I returned them when I found a hole in one.
Somebody’s growing potatoes on a golf course? Somebody’s golfing in a potato field? Whaaa?
The bag I had, had parts of a birdie in it.

The golf course I play is next to a farmer’s field. Every bale of hay probably contains 100 balls.
On so august a thread, I thought about a saint and drew the following conclusion. Until it masters the art of hash browns, this leaves the US open to charges they’ve let the old royal county down.
Years ago, my kids pulled a wafer out of a bag of potato chips. It was a “slice” of a golf ball. Stll have it around here somewhere.
How many penalty strokes do you have the take for that?

So who missed the golf balls? Robotic potato harvesting and processing needs work yet I think.
This was a perfect job for Hillary. Nobody runs a shredder like she does.
It must have been a green farming operation.
Automatic potato processing can do that.
Some kind of golf ball separator would be helpful.
