Reports: Fox News Executives Fear ‘More to Come’

Executives at Fox News reportedly fear what is to come after it was announced on Wednesday that host Bill O'Reilly would not return to the network in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.

"There's more to come," a Fox News insider told Vanity Fair.

The comments appear to suggest there may be more women who have not yet come forward publicly with stories of harassment.

CNN “New Day” host Alisyn Camerota also said early Thursday that there is “more to come” at Fox News, where she worked for 16 years.

“I know a lot about the culture, and my friends there, there is a feeling that … there is actually more to come, that this isn’t the end.”

21st Century Fox announced Wednesday that O'Reilly would not be returning to the network "after a thorough and careful review of the allegations."

O'Reilly's show lost about 90 advertisers after The New York Times reported earlier this month that five women were paid $13 million to settle sexual harassment suits. A lawyer for O'Reilly said Monday the host bad been subject to a "smear campaign" by far-left groups.

In a statement Wednesday, O'Reilly called it "tremendously disheartening" to be parting ways with the network over "completely unfounded claims."

"But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today," he said in the statement.

Vanity Fair reported the newsroom reactions to O'Reilly's departure were mixed.

Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch sent an internal memo Wednesday emphasizing the company's commitment to "fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect."

As mentioned by Hannity, Rumors are that he is next to be targeted. He hasn’t been able to confirm though.

Fear ‘More to Come’

I would suggest that their fear is justified. Changing political direction is a fearful task.

Changing from left to right is exciting to observe but changing thinking from right to left can become messy.

8 hours would be of him sleeping. That would appeal to Sheppie’s biggest fan base. The light loafer crowd.

Brit Hume was a bit slimy, promoting his mistress. But having an affair is not going to get someone fired.

BOR was not having “an affair.” He was using his authority to trade offers for sex, or simply abusing his senior relationship (having unwanted phone sex with subordinates). BOR was engaging in UNWANTED repeated sexual harassment of the worst kind. Even after having to pay out huge settlements. A serial predator.

It may be but taking Beck’s prediction of anything is dangerous. You’d be more likely to see just the opposite happen.

*Hannity will fight like the third Chimpanzee on the boarding ramp to Noah’s Ark, just like Trump.*

LOL - that certainly brought an image to mind. OTOH, if the name O’bama be inserted to replace “Hannity”, all hell would break loose.

I love that. And yes they would, both!

My guess is that Brit actually cared for Me-Again! and she was looking for the easiest unearned way to the top...(which never ends on happiness)

Her new NBC show sounds like a disaster in waiting

As Fox moves left to center, we in the Conservative world need to set up a real right wing cable news network and chain of newspapers. Like OANN (Only National) and the Blaze (only in Print) Maybe link them someway. No attempt to be “Fair and Balanced” The news of the right—on air—Hannity, Rush, Labin, Savage, Drudge, Michele Makin, Maybe even Horowitz,
Newspaper—like USA Today—only on the right. The TV people doing editorials, The Truth—not NY Times retread news. Put stuff in the news you can’t get anyplace else. We need a new breed of Reporters—willing to get dirty and find the news. people who will get into the mess to answer the questions of the day—Is George Soros really funding demonstrators?—we need people on the inside. Less like Woodward and Bernstein and more like Karl Kolchack.

This is really tough. Beck’s model is the problem-—and it likely will be the same problem for Levin, namely subscription video at the level you need to have “Amazon Prime/Netflix” level productions just doesn’t work.

Go back and look at how Fox (not Fox News) did it, because that’s a model that worked.

Fox was only on a few nights a week, but the shows they had were killer: “Married With Children,” “The Simpsons,” “21 Jump Street,” and they slowly increased programming. But the key was they didn’t try to fill 24/7 air. They made a decision that whatever air they did fill would be with quality programming.

Beck (and Levin) thought he could get away with showing people doing a radio show live and that would pass for “entertainment.” No. I have the Rush Limbaugh site and I never even use the ditto cam. I use the ability to get Rush on my computer rather than carry around a radio. So there was a fundamental misunderstanding of what programming was, and what people wanted to see.

It seems like a typical affair, unless Brit has done it again since. Agreed.

I doubt that Comcast provides OANN, either. I should find out, in case FOX falls off the left edge.

It’s one thing to say, “This is my enemy’s fault” (well, exposing it probably is, but . . .)

It’s another thing to say, “He didn’t do it.” There’s enough allegations from different people at different times that there probably is something to it.

What no one on our side seems to be saying is, “Why the hell did BOR engage in such stupid conduct, especially in this day and age?”

I repeat: for 30 years I didn’t (to my best recollection) ever have a closed door conference with a female student, and only a handful with either male or female faculty-—and only then with people I knew pretty well. You don’t put yourself in these situations. Too many on our side are focused on this being a hit (true) without the corollary of “why did he give them ammunition?”

But having an affair is not going to get someone fired.

I agree, but only when it is an isolated incident.

In this case, even if it was not contributing to the aura of a hostile work environment (and we don't know that others still felt that sleeping with the boss was the way to get advanced in that office), adversaries of FNC could still use it as the third disclosure in a year of an office environment gone bad.

For liberal activists trying to create a meme, it doesn't matter that the Hume affair was an isolated event from 10 years ago in a different office in different city; what matters is the timing of the press disclosures to create the perception of current wrongdoings.

Furthermore, Hume was the managing editor of the Washington DC, for many years. He was a founding talent who brought gravitas to the Fox News Channel. As such, liberal activists could accuse Hume of being an example of a "management" that turned a blind eye to the hostile work environment because they, themselves, were "doing it," and therefore call for his resignation to "drain the swamp" at FNC.

If an attack on Hume is successful along the lines of "he should have known about it and did nothing," then I can see them turning next to Neil Cavuto, who is a senior vice president at Fox News Channel. I don't think that there are any scandals in Cavuto's past, but he could become an executive target just because he's there and has three shows on the network.

All that said, Hume is in Washington and O'Reilly is in New York, so the former can't really be tied to the latter. Cavuto is in New York, too, but he has the firewall of being in the business bureau, not the news bureau, if that matters.

When you decide your corporate image is going to be leggy blondes in short skirts there’s a certain inevitability to how that’s going to end.

Well said. And if everyone KNEW about Hume’s affair with MeAgain, they’d have been skewered on SNL like BoR was, and they might have wanted the distraction gone. It is a hostile work environment when the boss is sleeping with one of you. You are right.

I like OAN too. It’s straight line news. HOWEVER.....I can’t watch it because every single one of the anchors speaks like a computer program. Terrible!
