'Resist Trump' Is An Expensive Flop In Georgia — Will Dems Drop Another $8 Million On Ossoff?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 4/19/2017 | Staff

Politics: The special election held in Georgia on Tuesday was supposed to a blockbuster event showcasing the anti-Trump wave sweeping the nation. Instead, it was an overhyped dud.

So sure that Georgians shared their loathing of Donald Trump, Democrats from around the country poured more than $8 million — almost none of which came from people in Georgia's 6th District — into the campaign of 30-year-old political novice Jon Ossoff. Celebrities endorsed him. The media showered him with free publicity. And he was running against 11 Republican candidates.

But even with all that support, Ossoff wasn't able to win a majority of the vote, and as a result he will have to face off against the second-place finisher, Republican Karen Handel, in June, to fill the seat vacated by President Trump's HHS secretary, Tom Price.

Still, isn't getting 48% a big achievement in a "ruby red" state like Georgia? Ossoff called this "a remarkable victory." And the New York Times says his "strong showing will ensure that national Democrats continue to compete here."

Perhaps this is not a “resist Trump” election contest but rather the district sending a message to the do nothing Republican Congress.

It was a complete top down operation hoping to slip this guy in so they could hammer Trump in the media with a fake backlash similar to fake Russian hacking.

It was blatant as hell. Every whack-job leftist from the state was on full commie activation. There were more Ossoff television spots than the last 4 Presidential Elections combined, for ALL parties. The guy NEVER listed his Party affiliation in the adds and they were all Ronald Reagan talking points.

They went overboard and got caught. Had they pushed a little less they likely would have gotten over the 50% mark with their ground game organized. We (the people that actually live in the district) had just won a Presidential election and were riding that glow. Most people weren’t even paying attention until they pounded us with adds for some little creep.

Georgia 6th District republican voters must get out to vote on June 20 to egg the faces of these carpetbagging donors and the pajama boy who won’t even commit to his girl friend of 12 long years and doesn’t even live in the district .

Absolutely correct. Handel isn't all that popular, having lost 5 out of 6 political races. The face of the 6th District has changed somewhat even in the conservative areas. There seem to be a lot more Hillary-women that harbor an irrational hatred for Trump, and thus, support "Pelosi's Boy". Add to that the influx of minorities and the fraud and dirty tricks and the results aren't a given. Also, articles like this accomplish nothing but make conservative voters complacent, and a lot more likely to skip voting if it is inconvenient.

but we should still go all out in the run off and take voter outreach and turnout seriously

You bet. These people are the enemy - a far more dangerous enemy than any foreign government - and we shouldn't turn our backs on them or cease to fight against them for a moment.

Jackoff Ossoff was an aid to the loathsome John Lewis (One of Georgia's national embarrassments) and Hank (Guam tipping over) Johnson who is actually almost as dumb as he appears to be. These two liberal members of the black Kongressional Caucus are about as far left as you can get, and Jackoff Ossoff is presumably cut from the same mold otherwise why pick them to work for?

I hope they waste every penny their commie donors send.

I would love to see an analysis of how all those outside of district funds were spent to elect Pajama Boy2.

TV ads? The media loved cashing those checks!

Direct Mailings? More paper for the recycle cans and more work for the mail carrier.

Consultants? Money-grubbers need a cause, cuz it is the only work they know to do.

My point is that it is all spent and gone without meaningful results.

Guam tipping over https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs23CjIWMgA is among the best YouTube videos of all time. Anyone inspired to follow in his footsteps needs to be politically obliterated.

“Because the American People wanted a 30 year old novice making decisions that effect over 300 million people.”

Don’t like th eidea of anybody dictating life for 300 million. That’s he problem, 30 or 60. Almost a whole continent ruled by one city.

The Dem’s need to look at how much less money Trump spent than Hillary and how much less in this race R’s spent than D’s.

It isn’t the money it is the people and ideas. Oh course for money hungry Democrats who live to spend other peoples money, that is a concept they will never understand.

All the spending did was benefit the Republicans. Many swing voters are mad at the Democratic establishment (Hollywood, Pelosi, Schumer, Clinton, MSM) so their presence may have brought additional voters to the GOP side.

Words of advice for the DNC, DLCC and the left money in 2018: if you want to win, shut up.

I’m curious whether a left-populist candidate would have done better (as we saw in Kansas, even though he still lost). As long as a Trump-like candidacy runs on the right, that would neutralize that possibility though.

The money, I believe, was THE reason he lost. It brought hated groups like Hollywood, the MSM and the Clinton machine into the race, and they are HATED among non-elites.
