With stinging criticisms cloaked in humor, late-night hosts Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, Trevor Noah and the whole cast of Saturday Night Live have provided American audiences a way to laugh off their political anxiety. But on May 2, we may have to say goodbye to them for now.
Thats because the day before marks the expiration date for the current contract between the Writers Guild of America, the organization representing 12,000 Hollywood film and TV writers, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the writers employers. (The Huffington Post is unionized under the WGA-East.)
The current contract, a hefty 687-page document, specifies things like pay minimums and how disputes should be settled. If both sides dont reach an agreement on a new contract in time, the WGA plans to strike, pending approval from its members. A vote currently underway online is widely expected to pass.
In the case of a strike, programs like The Late Show, Full Frontal, The Daily Show and SNL, that have voiced some of the toughest criticisms of President Donald Trump on national television, would face an immediate blackout, according to WGA-West executive director David Young. (Or rather, reruns, which are arguably even worse.)
Because they reflect the issues of the day ― from Trumps Easter speech to his daughters ethically murky role in his administration to his press secretarys combative demeanor with the media ― late-night programs dont have a real stockpile of material like other scripted shows and are left with no other choice. Its happened before, during the 100-day WGA strike that began in late 2007.
This time around, however, the dispute is a little different. Heres a quick recap of whats going on and how it might affect viewers....

That sounds like an exaggeration if I have ever heard one. Bitter foul people so negative about anything in life is hardly cause to laugh.
I count myself among those who will never notice.
Self-important dweebs who literally work in LaLa Land.
**Yawn.**
I do not, nor have I ever, thought it funny when "comedians" vie with each other to say the meanest, most foul things about conservative politicians. These people will not be missed. Maybe they can be replaced with a genuinely funny line-up, where the so-called humor does not consist of lying and bullying.
Good. The sooner they STF... shut up the better we all are.

And here are the new BS allegations:
Attorney Lisa Bloom announced Tuesday that she is representing a new client who is accusing OReilly of sexual and racial harassment.
Bloom did not reveal the identity of the new client but said that she called the hotline Fox News set up last week to investigate claims against OReilly.
The attorney told The Hollywood Reporter that her client was called hot chocolate by OReilly and was afraid if she told him to knock it off she'd get fired.
DO IT! STRIKE! STRIKE! who really gives a cr@p.
I don’t see how the Republic survives this.

The more we pollute America with ignorance, morons, islam filth and general rapeugee scum, the harder it is to salvage our butts.
Ignorance goes in opposite and parallel somewhat evenly, we must fight the bad and ugly and let the good roam free.
It requires honesty.

I never watch any of them either.
I used to see the one girl in ads for her show.
She would say something not in the least bit funny then display a smug look as if she had just said something brilliant.
Without seeing her show, I know I couldn’t watch it.
At least they admit they’re “anti-Trump voices,” and aren’t pretending they’re impartial comedians just trying to be funny, and it’s merely a coincidence they bash Trump so hard after giving Obama the kid glove treatment.
Aw that’s a shame.
Good, as I have said before, I do not own a TV and will miss nothing. The more chaos these rabid left fools in hollywood experience, the better for everyone. These fools support a minimum wage, and the leftist media are constantly bellyaching about corporate profits and the like. But just tell me when anyone—the rabid media especially—has ever complained about a new record film opening? Not once, ever.
>> Stephen Colbert
Not funny and nasty.
So who, which show inherited O Really’s writers and producers?
How will we ever survive??
OTOH...I am cheering for a writers strike....BIG TIME !
No. It's because they have no talent, no morals, no judgement, and no scruples. They also do not have me in their audience of zombies.
As far as the Writers Guild of America, go ahead, strike. Besides streaming video I have stockpiled years worth of quality entertainment. Basically, I never need to depend on any part of the entertainment industry for the rest of my life. And I bet there are a lot more like me.
