A ping from the cellphone of a behavioral health worker who randomly killed a Cleveland grandfather and posted video of the execution on Facebook has been detected in Pennsylvania, according to a report.
The clue emerged as police in Ohio urged residents in Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana and Michigan to be on the lookout for Steve Stephens, 37, who may have fled Cleveland after allegedly gunning down Robert Godwin Sr., 74.
Stephens’ cellphone ping was detected about 100 miles east of Cleveland in Erie, Pa., authorities told CNN. Police in the city told The Post they were not investigating the case.

Excellent point. They could've said something less revealing like he was sighted in the Erie PA area. Then, he just might have left his car...and taken his cell phone with him.

Every cell phone pings the towers of the area it is in. His phone pinged an Erie tower.
He probably turned it on for a moment to check something

When asked of report of cell phone pinging in Erie, PA, Chief Williams says they do not know Stephens’ location at this time.

The guy drove around the whole day and night yesterday in a known car and the only thing the cops did was to chase away people looking for him.
He must be well connected.
Lots of travelers yesterday afternoon and evening. Tape the cellphone to a Pa. bound car?
This man is insane. But he may be cleverly insane or stupidly insane.
No way to tell at this point but he’s stayed free for 24 hours while under a manhunt so he’s not a complete idiot and not looking to shoot it out with the cops unless forced.
My heart broke for the 75 year old man this animal shot.
If he only could have defended himself.

I think this is a point where the people reporting the news want to perpetuate the horror so they can sell more ad space.
