Why do republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot running so many people?

It’s a reason it’s hard to get true conservatives in.

Well if there were a board room where the handful of people who control the Republican Party meet and decide who runs and who doesn't, you would have a point. But there is no such group (thankfully). Many Republicans run in races like this because each feels HE (or she) is best suited for the job. They are all narcissists, but then again to run for office these days, you almost have to be.

Just like the Presidential primaries, they all think THEY are the only true conservative. Circular firing squads are our specialty!

Because ‘the party’ doesn’t have the pull to get people to step aside

And that is exactly why they’re there.

"Why do Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot running so many people?"

This was my first reaction also. It's beyond belief that there's so many in the field. This never should have happened in these iffy times for the GOP.

There should have been pressures applied, or deals made, arms twisted, or whatever it took to narrow the field. Phone calls, even from the Pres and the Veep plus the RNC Chair should have been made. This is how it's always been done and it should have been done this time. It's the fine art of politics. I went through it myself in my time in elected office.

This is just crazy.

By the bye, does anyone here know right-off-the bat the name of the present RNC Chair in DC?....the invisible one that took Prince Rebus's place? I'll betcha hardly anyone.

Hint: She's the grandaughter of the late George W. Romney and the niece of Mitt Romney.

I consider this a failure on the part of both the national and Georgia state GOP party apparatus.

The Dems are pushing a political agenda. The GOP has a personality cult atmosphere.
