An addition to my last post. Apes are more distant relatives to humans than wolves and dogs. The last common ancestor between humans and the great apes lived some seven million years ago. We are actually quite different although genetically “related” in that no other animal is as close.

The last common ancestor between humans and the great apes lived some seven million years ago. We are actually quite different although genetically related in that no other animal is as close. As I mentioned earlier, our DNA is 98% or greater the same as a chimpanzee. We and they are genetically closer than they are to gorillas.
